Going boarding this Saturday....

Water temp will be an estimated 52 degrees, Air temp will be around 58. I just ordered a full neosport 5mm wet suit, 5mm gloves, 5/3mm hood, and 2mm socks. I hope this is enough to keep me warm cause a new boat, new board, new vest, I just don't have the patience to wait on summers warm weather. Anybody ever board in this water temp?

I was out 2 weekends ago and the water would have been in the low to mid 40's, air temp in the 50's. I had a 4/3 suit with 1.5 gloves and some thinnish boots. I was warm enough to have fun.

you'll be fine. bring 2 thermoses- one for your favorite beverage of choice and another to pour some warm water in your wetsuit before you hop in- or just pee in it

I take a cooler full of hot water with me. Put the wet suit in it, the whole suit is pre-warmed! Throw it on right before Im ready. You can also pour the water in too. Found it easier just to put in cooler though.

With a suit that thick and water that warm, I wouldn't even mess with the hot water before getting wet. I have been at the cable park all winter in a 2/3 with 2mm booties and no gloves, coldest day water was 48 and air was 50. Hands were cold, everything else was good.

I was worried it wasn't gonna be enough. Now I'm stoked to get out there. It's been a warm winter, but a long one at that. I was already going to do the cooler with warm water. I read about doing that awhile back. Also going to wire in an inverter tomorrow so I can plug in my electric blanket ;) between that and the heater on my boat I should stay warm.

I've rode in 48-50 degree water a few times this winter and my body was never cold with a 4/3 but under 60 degrees my hands got really cold but you have gloves so it shouldn't be an issue.

I think you will be fine. You are right at my cutoff temps with a 3/2.

5mm? Wow...you are the first person I've known with a 5mm. You could stay warm in Canada. You'll be plenty warm but comfort and flexibility will be an issue. If you have closed toe bindings your feet will warm up anyways because the bindings are neoprene inside. Good luck, have fun. I might go out myself but only need a drysuit with boxer shorts and a t-shirt underneath in 54-55 degree water.

That's middle of spring for me. I go with a 4.5mm wetsuit, and gloves as soon as the ice is off the lake. A little hot water from the shower before and after and you will be good to go. I need to move south.

Practically mid summer temps for us up here. LOL JK... Sounds like you should be good to go. Remember after the adrenaline kicks in from getting to actually get out you should be set.. Have fun ,till your cold, jump in warm up and go again.

So I finally got around to uploading all the pics from last weeks ride. Had alittle going away party for my buddy and did alittle boarding. Heres a few pics out of the hundreds I took. And by the way, Ive read a few people say that a gopro camera isnt good for taking video off the tower. I completely disagree. I bought one, used the $30 tower mount and took 4 1080p videos. Awesome footage. Very still, and very clear. Yeah, you cant zoom in to make it a close up video, but for what it was it was awesome. If I want close up footage I'll sit on a tube 5 foot in front of the rider and take video. Best $300 Ive spent so far.

have you used the picture setting on your go pro? i set mine to take a picture every 2 seconds when we went snow boarding and it came out with some awesome shots. alot had to be deleted as well though but it does get some good unique stuff

Not yet. I bought it right before I went up to my lake house so I didnt really have a chance to play with all the settings.
