View Full Version : Help pick colors on a new 21v!

Well were still figuring out a few specifics with the boat but it looks like we will be getting a 21v pretty soon. We will most likely be ordering instead of getting the one in stock because the price difference isnt much different. Picking colors is soo hard i'm sure you guys can come up with some stuff we haven't thought of. This is our favorite scheme so far.

I'd sure be thinking about a lighter color on top in the south. I like the green on there but it will be invisible in the water won't it?

All flat black.

Enter Black, Yellow, Pacific, White, Black in that order across the bottom. I was too lazy to get the picture on here. With the last graphics choice and a black rubrail.

Were thinking it will give it kind of a two tone look when its on plane then more of an all black look when it comes to rest. Plus it will look killer on the trailer hopefully.

no friggin way I'd order any boat that isn't white on the top deck. found out at a boat show a few years ago in the early spring sun that even a light grey is 10-15deg hotter than white and that was with 70deg outside temps. that black will be unbearable to step on or touch in the heat of the summer sun.

not to mention the added upkeep of a black boat and watespotting...

congrats tho. will be fun to get a new ride..

The black gets "Supra" Hot. I have a new black full cover on my boat it keeps the boat HOT. I take the cover off and everything is toasty on the feet if your barefooted. My pad has the black and gray and the black is always super hot, it burns. Boat is black in the middle section , white on top and bottom. The black takes extra care to keep it looking nice. Water spots are Hell from certain lakes. I love the color scheme you chose, just think of the up keep! And your leaving the MOOMBA Famiy....No No just kidding. I would buy a new Supra too.....

I agree on the deck... I have a black boat but the top is white and bearable temp wise. As for colors... I CANNOT FIGURE OUT how to get my selections on here from their site.

I went White deck Black accent 1, Red main panel, Black rail, Black hull and accent 2

Also, I do not have an issue with water spots on my Black boat... the absorber handles that easily!

I really like the green, although I'd probably make the hull black or white and have the main panel be green. No idea on the temp with the different color decks, but having the deck match the hull color with black in between also looks great IMO

That looks good! I would likely make accent 3 lime as well. That way you see little of the green at rest. Going to sweet either way.

Black will be hot but you will get used to it.

I personally wouldn't pick the green but I think the look you have is a good one.

Black can be a pain to keep clean but I'm all for it. It will look sharp. That's what I'd go with anyways.

Were not really worried about how hot the deck gets it's a sacrifice for what I think looks better. I like the way the green looks on the deck from the side but I feel like having the lime green inside the boat will be a little cheesy. How's this look?

Personally, I don't like white on the top deck because of the glare. I'd go with the sandrock or platinum. I actually built the color scheme you just posted but with the platinum deck and chrome rail, I think. Looked decent. But, if you don't mind the heat off the black there's no reason not to do it. Invest in some good cleaning products though because there will be water spots everywhere.

Untrue.

I added a 2" wide white stripe right at the waterline and had absolutely no issues for two seasons running. Self installed at that

Ive got pictures of it someplace on here but just recently removed them to change the apperance up.

don't understand how that could be. my supra has the tribal decal on the side. it's in and out of the water all day and has only shown very slight peeling in a few places after 300hrs and 6 years of use.

sounds like someone wanted to sell a full wrap job :)

KG's Supra24
02-09-2012, 06:58 PM
Perhaps they just didn't want to mess with it. I told them up front I didn't want a wrap.

I wasn't referring to graphics on the side of the boat as mine are in and out also. I was really referring to ones that sat at water line but it didn't sound like Daze had any issues. Maybe it will work, only one way to find out.

My boat is black on black with white bottom... It looks amazing but even the very smallest of scratches will bother you. You need to be very carefully with gear.
Last year mms had a green and black lsv..it looked so hot with the new tower.

Got an update for us?
We went on Friday and ordered the boat we were pretty set on black with the green stripe but in person black and blue just looked better together and we were a little worried that lime green might go out of style. The pic below is how we ordered the boat but we still might change the area around the rub rail to black and the deck to blue, but we are definitely sticking with black and blue.
As far as options go this is what we ordered.
-z5 bimini
-wakeboard prop
-dual batteries with charger
-transom lights
-docking lights
-18" trailer wheels (the black ones that are on the worlds editions)
-illuminated laser cut steps
-two tone trailer (like the worlds edition but a little darker blue)
-no stereo upgrades but I will be ordering a set of rev 10's and either a syn 4 or exile xi800.4 when I get my income tax check back, because we left the bullets with the Moomba. We kept the sub setup though so that will be going in the new boat as well.

Scratches showed up pretty good on the red boat but we never got too many as were pretty careful. I'm wondering how much of a difference it will make going from black to blue on the deck as far as scratches and surface temps are concerned. It's another thing we'll have to think about.

you da man
02-13-2012, 01:25 PM
My boat is 90-95% black and if your hull underneath is black be prepared to to have to crawl under the boat to wipe it down. Most owners with white hulls don't even think about the waterspots underneath or even notice them until they actually have to under the boat. I keep a car creeper in my storage unit and go underneath to get everything. I also do a quick wipe down on the top deck when floating to minimize the Texas sun from baking in those water spots.

Nice color scheme! I like the blue more than the green for the same reasons you stated.

You might have already done this but I'd get some expert opinion before putting the 800.4 on the Revs. Perhaps its power in bridged mode is 800? but i'm almost certain its not 800 watts in 4 channel mode. My assumption is the harpoon would be the biggest exile amp for tower speakers since that is what they are always pushing but it's 600 watts across 2 speakers according to the website. I didn't see the 800.4 specs posted on the website, bridging that might yield more than 600? Also it's AB versus GH technology which I think matters when it comes to efficiency on batteries? Ha, you can see I know just enough to be dangerous. Syn 4 is 400 watts to each speaker.

Oh, and I like the black top cap so the interior is black as well. Gonna be sweeeet ride!

bzubke1
02-13-2012, 06:40 PM
The exile is 400x2 in bridged mode which is all I'm really worried about. So the exile is an AB class amplifier and the wetsounds is a GH class? And the GH is supposed to be more efficient with battery power? I'm trying to see if it's worth it to spend the extra $100 on the wetsounds over the exile. It would be nice to have matching brands but it isnt worth $100 to me.

KG's Supra24
02-13-2012, 06:51 PM
I think the GH is more efficient but honestly I'm at my knowledge peak. I'd think there are others differences as well. I think its a worthy audio thread. If not that, I'd at least give one of the audio guru's a call, or both.

Seeing as you went from an LSV to a 21v what are you're impressions from one boat to the next wake, quality, features, etc. anything you wanna talk about i'm willing to listen. Also I know you can't fit the 1100 bag in the ski locker of the 21v anymore but from the looks of it there is still room after the 650 is filled to maybe put another sac on top but still under the seat.

I'll probably never haul the boat up to lewisville unless it's for service. I boarded there once and I don't know how you can get good water on that lake unless there's no wind, at first it was glass and when a little breeze kicked up it was pretty blown out, we were in the stewarts creek "cove" and it was so wide open. I have heard sneaky pete's is pretty awesome tho. Come down to the river some time! I always assumed you were on lake worth.

chawk610
02-21-2012, 04:43 PM
I grea up on Lake worth... but there is a tad too much jet fuel in it for my "taste" :) We recreate in a cove just beyond the I35 bridge. It is doable... and yes, the sand volleyball games after a nice day on the lake at Sneaky Pete's are great! Especially since they started serving 24oz draft beers. I have a friend with a lake house on Granbury... but his cove is still about dreid up last I heard. Maybe it is better after the rains we have gotten.

bzubke1
02-21-2012, 08:34 PM
I've always heard lake worth has some pretty good water but a lot of people dont like to go on it because of water pollution not to mention the gators. Granbury is 100% full and actually letting out water. Should be an awesome summer if we keep getting some rain here and there. Whitney is only 2.84 ft low so i'll be makin a couple trips down to hamm creek so long as the water stays up.

I have always wanted to go to Lake Lewisville just to party and about 4 years ago we rented a pontoon boat just for that reason, wasn't much fun on a rental pontoon though. I really like the idea of lakes where you can cruise up to bars and restaurants and get a drink and a meal and Sneaky petes is about the best place to do just that. I am too far now for that, I'll have to find a spot on lake conroe where i can do that, our river doesnt have a dock much less a restaurant haha.

as for the rev 10s, i think they are too big, i mean look wise, they loose silly huge. i have buddy who just got some and compared to his out kicker set up it just looks goofy. i would probably def go 2 rev 8s

This is texas you gotta go big or go home! We have two restaurant/bars on lake granbury but nothing on the level of sneaky pete's. It is fun to cruise up to the bar at night especially with the underwater and interior lights we used to get a lot of oohs and aahs. My brother got to party at sneaky pete's last summer with robert oswell, owner of roswell wake air on his nautique 230, he said it was an absolute blast and mr. oswell is just an awesome dude.

where we ride there are gators, every once in a while you see one but they dont bother you. boats typically scare them away and there has never been a wakeboarder/water skier attacked by a gator in TX and there has never been a person killed by a gator in TX. We have about a 3-4 footer that lives in the cove that our lake house is on. I saw a couple last year on the river but they were dead and floating upside down, not sure what killed them.
