Board and Vest storage at home. Do you take Boards and vest out of boat when done?

I take my jackets and boards out to hang on Rack to dry and used to stack boards on top of cabinet. My wife was getting boat ready before I got home one day and dropped Wakeboard on her big toe and broke it. Moved cabinet to hang higher on wall and put in closet pole below. The rack was given to me from my sister when she had a boat, they skied.

I cut rack so boards would hang by about 3 inches of edge.
Cut a larger slot for surf board at a steep angle.
Wakeskate sits on top of shelf used for closet pole
Kneeboard and skis go behind them held in by another cross board.
Put in plenty of hooks to hold ropes and other odds and end.
Tired of it being a cluster.
The weather was good last week so I knocked it out in a couple of nights after work.
Car under the cover is my toy I lost interest in when I bought the boat.

I have a rack for storing the boards & skis in the garage so I take the boards out of the boat when I get home. Life jackets I tend to hang off the tower and rear locker doors to let them dry out. Occassionally I'll hang jackets in the garage if the weather is too wet to allow them to dry outside.

I usually clean the boat out after each trip. Even if I go out the next day.

I keep certain things in my boat all the time, such as 4 orange PFDs, barefoot boom, spare ropes, 1 pair combo skies, stuff that isnt used that often, easily stowed away, but there when I want it.

I pack certain things for my boat trip, depending on what I feel like doing for the morning or afternoon and who is going with, such as wakeboard, ropes & ski lifejackets, kneeboard, trick skies, ect.

I always unpack what was used, so it can hang out to dry. If I take water over the bow, usually everthing comes out.

When parked all the hatches, seats, covers get opened up to vent. I usually hang the wet suff up on the tower when its folded down. I don't have a fancy rack in my garage space for my gear. Its usually nicely set against the wall.

I have a couple of clotheslines along the garage wall that I hang all the jackets and stuff on. I attached a rack to the ceiling in the garage so I can store skis and wakeboards up there. Easy to put them up from the boat and take them down back into the boat.

I like things to east to use. My rack is right by the side of drive the boat goes on. When we come back from lake everyone helps un-load and hang stuff up. Cant stand for the Moomba to smell musty.

My kneeboard and skis hardly ever go to lake anymore. Im trying to work on riding the wakeskate now.Its good to see and hear how others do their stuff. My wife likes the new setup, No more broken TOES.

Viking, Nice Man garage! Heater so you can work anytime.I like it. How do like your Bullet Speakers. I want to upgrade and those are the ones I was looking at. HCLD ? What amp do you have running them? Having a rack for your boards makes it alot easier to put away...

I built racks hanging from the ceiling for for the wakeboards and surfboards so I don't lose any wall space. Hang them upside down so they are as high up as I can go.

During the summer I will hang life jackets from the support rails of my carport to dry or from small hooks under the board racks (like in the pick) if it is really rainy out. Can still park under them too. During the winter I commandeer one of the kid's closets for life jacket storage.

Like the racks Berg, Great idea. Man those are some HELLA fins on your surf board! What kind is the wooden looking one? My wife could definitly break a Foot getting those down...LOL...Never heard a Nurse cry like she did when she broke her toe....Its Funny NOW

Yeah that mini monster is an ocean board a buddy gave me and I learned on it the first couple seasons. 5'10" of old school floatation. It feels pretty slow compared to the newer boards out there but was the first one I ever free rode on. I have no idea what brand it is or if it even has a brand. Has a lot of battle scars though.

My cheap stuff can dry-rot and hang in the garage, the expensive stuff goes in the bedroom to dry under the ceilling fan and then the next day it goes back in the closet. Boards stay in my corner of the bedroom. Room temperature. OH by the way, MY WIFE LOVES IT! (NOT). lol

Ditto on Jet, everything that is mine I bring in everyday including wetsuit and life jacket. It sits out to dry then in my closet to prevent my cat from gnawing on it. Just having it at room temperature eases my mind.

I here you....Thanks. I could put mine in basement, but thats a hassle. Angie would say what the hell if I put them in the walk-in closet.. She is pretty good about closing garage door. My Rv is parked on one side of drive now so it blocks half the garage where the Moomba goes. I think I worry more about some one yanking the system out of my Boat. It Insured, thats what it for I guess.

everything wet comes out of my boat, even if for the night. I've not had time to finish organizing the garage at the new place yet, but I took my home-made racks off the wall in the old place, so I'll be putting them back up. I like the roof storage though, so I'll probably do some of that too..At least with my home-made, non-folding bimini. I need a rack for hanging some other things in the garage anyways, so the jackes will hang lower. + the wife grabs some of them when taking the kids to pools, so I want them within reach w/o having to climb up in the boat. I'll try to remeber to shoot some pics when i get 'er squared away...

Newty there are 4 garage doors Two on the side and two on the front and. Ack so you drive thru and unhitch the toys. Here is a full on pic. Tons of cr*p in the garage at the moment.

i like your idea of the elliptical. First you have to find it. Then you have to lift objects in order to get to it. Then you finish up with cardio when you finally get to it. A lot better than just hopping on it and going. That's for pansies :)

Looks good Joe! Viking did a similar set up for his boards, except he used PVC. I really liked Bergs board rack from the ceiling, I cant do it cuz my ceiling is High.
Looks like you and I both need a place for tube. I usually fold mine and set at end of garage.

I use the same idea, but have hooks and rope. Was cheap, easy, and really gets the boards out of the way in my garage. Only problem I have found is that I use my garage for projects, and my boards will get completely covered in saw dust. Nothing a quick hose down in the driveway wont fix, but just annoying.

My dad and I just finished up this project not too long ago and thought I would share given the topic of the thread. Took us quite a while and lots of help from friends but finally got her done. I believe the measurements are 32x16 and the door is 11 feet tall. We tried to make it big enough where future boats could go in as well, hope that works out down the road. Definitely provides a ton of storage and is nice for cleaning and maintaining the boat. We added some cheap box fans in the rafters to help dry it out and keep it cool during the summer. So far its been awesome and doubles as a great party barn as well.

I have not been on Anna myself but haven't heard anything about dirty water. I had some friends from college that have places there and never heard anything real bad about it. My aunt has been on Anna though and complains that it is way too crowded on the weekends. However, we are pretty spoiled here at Kerr Lake because it is rarely busy.

We ride nearly every day, so everything stays in the boat. The exception is if I am on someone elses boat I'll grab my gear, but for the most part everything stays in the boat. If we aren't skiing or boarding I stack everything up on the grass at the marina and put our cover over it, since there isn't really any storage for that type of thing in my Outback.

Ah, your blood seems to thin out after you've been down here a few years.

One of the things we love about the ATL is that you do get a change of seasons. Falls are beautiful and winters are short with a rare snow that makes it that much more special for the kids. It does get cold enough to crack an engine block so most of us will winterize from Nov/Dec-Feb/March.

Last year, I didn't winterize until Dec 15 and may not have had to at all. I think I had the OBV back out around March 25 for a test drive with her now, new owner.
