View Full Version : Cost of a Supra V tower??

During the winter hibernation I always find myself fantasizing about the "what could I do" on the boat. I've given in to the fact that a new boat is no where in my future. But I'm okay with that as upgrading the old MobV has been fun.

I really don't care for the tower though. It works but I think the lines of it are not very, uh, elegant. I've looked at some aftermarket towers from Samson, Aerial and Monster. But I've always liked the Supra V towers. Wondering if anyone knows ballpark what one would cost...? It's daydreaming at this point so I don't really wanna go wasting a dealer's time. I'm more than happy to waste all your time though.

Possible after...

Ok, I wiped the old chrome badge off it there too. Makes it look like a newer boat though. Almost mysterious as to what kind of a Moomba it is.

Sled will buy your tower if it fits the Outback.

Add the newer chrome MOOMBA logo to the side to complete the new look. Love the supra tower on that hull though.

Was thinking the same thing but would probably go with a custom made MOBIUS instead. I like the old school style of the rear one and would keep it. Otherwise it would be a Moomba Moomba... Ha

I'm sure shipping my old tower to Sled would cost a bit. It doesn't break down at all.

So still, ballpark price anyone?

I definitely like it with the decals off!! You could get chrome decals for the "Moomba" on the back.

The progressive tower looks sweet but that seems like a lot of cost and a ton of work to make sure it is properly supported.

I obviously suck at photoshop and I couldn't even replicate pulling the decals off ...

Powdercoated tower and window tint might give it an updated look?

Here's the look I would go for. Bring it right into 2012. Sorry I had to make the whole boat a different yellow b/c my photoshop (skills??) are so bad.

You could use a wrap to do the black part under the rubrail like Kaneboats did. I looked into for part of my boat but never followed up.

Sorry, I (like everyone else) have no info about the supra tower. However, since we are all showing off our poor editing skills. Here is your boat with the new Monster MTk. Also, I haven't forgotten about the pics of ours with the MT2, should be able to email those to you soon.

What were you going to do under the rubrail? Make it chrome/silver or something?

Huh? On my boat or his? Your paint edition had black instead of white above the yellow. I was saying instead of paying to paint it black you could throw a wrap on that portion of it.

I still kind of like the clean look - not sure on the black under the rubrail. Never considered that before. Kane you did a wrap - did I miss something?

KG- It's not the color on mine I don't like it's the stiff lines not matching the windshield or the boat at all. The tower definitely looks like an afterthought.

I've eyeballed the Samson Blade but man they are spendy... Haven't found a good profile shot to do a mockup on mine. But boy are they purdy...
http://www.samsonsports.com/cmsimages/blade_2.jpg

I'm wondering what kind of additional support would be needed under the gunwale to do one any of those towers. I saw a Blade mounted on a brand new OBV last summer and it had already developed cracks in the gel coat around the mounts.

posed this thought the other day, but this seems like the appropriate thread to ask...

with the single attachment point towers, would the current hull support that tower or are the manuf. doing some upgrading to the glass under the top of the hull to support the tower feet?

seems that the single point towers would add a lot of stress to an area of the hull that may not have the thickness of glass to support it and make it seem stable?

Sandm, if it's decided the glass wouldn't be strong enough, you could put backing plates on it with 1/8" or 1/4" aluminum that would support the tower. Here is a pic of an example, you would obviously have to use a bit of a larger plate to make sure you spread out the pressure.

Berg, if getting that Supra tower is cost effective in your mind, go for it, that looks fantastic.

Haha - its amazing what I could justify in my mind. Still have no idea what it would cost...

Berg, you can buy this tower for about $77,000 and it comes with a FREE boat & trailer.

Not to rain on your parade Berg but is the Supra tower the same width as your gunel? I thought the SUpras were wider boats?

I think the supra tower looks 10x better than the blade on his hull. I see what he means about the existing tower looking rigid or dated or whatever and not really complementing the hull shape. Maybe he could just turn it around backwards!

I didn't get a wrap. I was asking KG what he was considering in the way of a wrap for the Supra when he looked into it.

Nothing much. I was just pricing a strip that would go between my rubrail and my top red stripe, figured it would be easier/cheaper than painting.

That does look cool. Why not use striping tape? That's about what a wrap is anyway, just thinner.

I just noticed you blacked out the tower too. I had a black tower in the FL sun. You might thing twice about spending the money on that "upgrade" in the south.

KG's Supra24
01-25-2012, 11:31 AM
I hadn't considered striping tape. I understand where you are coming from on the tower but dang it sure does look good!!

Also my decals are now outdated since Supra changed its motto from "a better wake a better boat" to .... well i thought they had changed it to something else but I can't find it right now. Hmmmm.

Motorola droid X - about 2 yrs old. Took the other pics from the same phone and they came out decent. Sometimes it is just slower to process when snapping multiple pics in succession.

Ahh crap, that backfired. I thought you were an iphone guy. :)

I just swapped my X for a RAZR, so far so good.

wolfeman131
01-25-2012, 12:52 PM
doing the same today - either a RAZR or Bionic.

I could go iphone, but I'm on Verizon so the 4G speed of the above offsets the positives of the iphone.

BTW - Berg still has called me about buying that tower. Cheapa$$.

KG's Supra24
01-25-2012, 12:56 PM
I, personally, would look past the bionic as its already outdated.

You should be choosing between RAZR and Nexus. The Nexus is def cool but I figure RAZR will have everything the Nexus does (except a couple things) within a couple months (ice cream sandwhich) and it was built to be stronger. RAZR = removable memory; Nexus = Removable battery.

Ya mean my check didn't arrive yet? I just made it out to you personally and for $200,000 to cover dealer fees, licensing, etc. So all you have to do now is when I take delivery on the boat, uh, tower, I'll need you to reimburse me the difference with a money order or cashier's check...

iPhone 4 - got my tunes, email, calendar, gps, to-do list, all that crap in one spot. Oh, and sometimes I can even use it to call people.

HAHA that was my first phone, Ericsson LOL

@Berg you can make phone calls on the IPhone? LOL.

I cant change phones even if i wanted to. I have the iPhone, ive had it since its first release, Plus i got the Kenwood 700U and its perfect for the iPhone.

Course im thinking of buying another Kenwwod 700U and selling my used one because 1 set of RCAs is toast. I have to daisy chain my Harpoon off the 800, it works fine and i still have seperate volume contol of both amps but i rather have everything working the way it should, not Just work.

Yeah, I'm pretty much married to my iPhone. Have popup reminders going off all the time so I don't get in trouble missing stuff. I used it as my only phone # for quite a while but at my new house I have next to zero coverage so have had to resort to a landline backup.

Have a Kenwood MP642U deck in my truck with Ipod control. Found out the other day that I can also control a little Pandora through the deck. That was cool.

On the wired remotes for the Kenwood 700U can you see and navigate your ipod playlists pretty well or are you kind of stuck with whatever it was on when you plugged it in?
