Hey Texas Moomba/Supra owners, 2012 is here and soon it will be time to start gearing up for summer and with that comes the 2nd annual Texas Moomba Jam! Dates in mind are August 10th to the 12th at Bethy Creek Resort in Riverside TX. Last year we had a blast and met some cool new people so come out and make this year just as fun. Bethy Creek is the perfect place to have it with amenities such as tent camping spots or hotel style condos with kitchens, a full sized dock if you want to keep your ride in the water over night, a cable park for those who want to try their skills on rails and ramps and a man made cut for easy access to the Trinity River where you can ride for miles on glass. Bethy Creek is located just 20 miles east of Huntsville, TX in the town of Riverside right off Hwy 19.

Here are a few pictures of last year.

I'd rather pay the $300 for a flight into Houston.

Will there be room for an old, fat man & a cooler of beer?

I'd love to make that trip because the area seems awesome. Doubt its a possibility, though.

It's 753 miles or 12 hrs 26 min. from my door. Long way to go to float the boat.

This would be an easy haul for me, Jet, and some others... but wasn't there some talk about Broken Bow? That might make the "yankees" from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas be able to make it.

Conversation got started by David with "You can call Me". We started talking about Brostock then it went to Broken Bow because they may move Brostock.......So I am still in for Brostock and Betty Creek.....No one has said The B word again Yet....LOL

That was a seperate trip Dusty and I were trying to organize to meet with Brian from Exile to get our systems tuned but I don't want/can't afford to drive 400 miles for that, and KG and Dusty do not want to drive to Bethy Creek. There was pretty much no talk of compromising but I think their trip was going to be early summer and this trip is late summer. We had the Texas Moomba/Supra Jam here at Bethy last year and it was a blast. If you like riding on glass then you wont find a better spot.

KG's Supra24
01-06-2012, 01:32 PM
Here is what I know, fwiw ...

David is right, him and Dusty were trying to work out something but I don't believe much has panned out.

Dusty and I (possibly others) will be on Ouachita (in AR) Memorial weekend. Last year this was a "supra" get together on Texoma.

I would be up for a Broken Bow get together just about any time. I believe Broken Bow was mentioned when it was heard Brostock might be moved. There is nothing set in stone but I know talks are of it moving to Lake of the Ozarks. If that were to happen, I (likely including Dusty) probably wouldn't make the trip. We preliminary had discussed making a Broken Bow long weekend out of it.

I'd love to make the Bethy Creek trip because it seems like an awesome spot but I just don't see it panning out.

Oh, and neither Dusty or myself have a 242 (as far as I know). We have older 24's. Big difference.

rdlangston13
01-06-2012, 02:16 PM
Everyone is just so spread out and that is the main problem, what is a short drive for some is a long drive for others and there really isn't any good water in between anyone for a good middle ground.

So what's the difference in a 242 and 24??

02Outback
01-06-2012, 02:41 PM
I was at Moomba/Supra Jam last year and had a great time. (That's me riding in those pictures).

The good thing about Bethy Creek is the location and facilities. Hotel style cabins over the water with the docks and ramps right outside your door. Cable Park, Tent Camping, BBQ Pits.

Glass, glass, glass. Bethy feeds to Trinity River and is the best place to ride. River that runs for miles and miles with perfect water.

I will be there again this year and I hope we get to meet a few others as well.

(If you are trying to picture it, look up Jake Owens - Barefoot Bluejean Night music video. It is exactly like that.

Cheers,
Cody

So what's the difference in a 242 and 24??

242 didn't start until 2011? It is the revised 24; different top cap, maybe different hull?, different interior, etc.

Keeping the Moomba Jam where it is , is probably the best. Trying to start an annual trip is Good. Bottom line is, put out the dates and where your going and if people can make they can. If not then another time. Brostock is not set, Broken Bow is not set, lets play it by ear and see what happens.
Most of the time stuff comes up and people get busy and cant make it anyways. All I know is I am going to do my best to hang out at the Lake this summer. Make new friends and Relax...
I wish you had a 242 KG, But your Supra is still the stuff, Like the colors. Rick

so basically 242 is the 24 ft 2nd version. i like how the new one has a more open cabin. that is the one thing i dont like about the 22v is that seat cuts like right into the middle of the cabin space.

but KG, yours and dustys ride are still bad assssss

Any chance this could be done around the end of June? With Brostock moving to LOTO, we won't be going. If possible, we may could make this trip if it happened to be towards the end of June.

Otherwise, we may just go ahead and plan a week long Broken Bow trip. Doing that might open up possibilities for others that don't want to make the trek all the way down.

KG's Supra24
01-31-2012, 05:29 PM
Dusty knows the area better than I. I believe there are some sites near the water but not many.

Going to GA would be about the same as me going to the Brazos, I think ...

dusty2221
01-31-2012, 05:37 PM
There are a few places on the water, it's very limited. You have to be willing to tent it and have no electricity to be on the water in the few main places I know of. There is one small camp area we found last year that looks to have camper hookups and it looked like people had the boats anchored just off the campsite, which is what I would want.

Actaully I got an email the other day from work and my schedule may be changing drastically so the dates listed very may well change. the only reason August was chosen was because it was far from any other conflicting Holidays. Give me a few weeks to see what is going on with my schedule at work and I will get back to yall. Maybe do a poll?

Decided I'm gonna wait til summer is over to start looking for a job that utilizes my degree and I'm just gonna keep my current job through summer so I can take time off whenever. So I'm in whenever you plan it for, so long as I can give my work a month or so notice.

Just be careful. Might want to "start" a little earlier. As soon as it's about early October they start in with that "well, after the first of the year" crap. It's more about budgets than anything I think but it's a real factor. Best of luck to you!

Lake Whitney is only 2.5 feet low now and still rising. I was planning on getting a bunch of buddies together and camping at hamm creek park on the brazos river some time in may. It's about 40 miles SW of fort worth and the water conditions are amazing. There facilities there are real nice with bathrooms convenient to all the campsites. No cabins but http://www.indianlodge.com/ has cabins and they're about a 10-15 minute boat ride to the part of the river that is best for riding.

Bethy Creek resort in Riverside, TX.

Chawk, there is a damn between the river and the gulf so no need to worry about bull sharks. That's only a lower San jacinto concern!

You can go to www.bethycreek.com for more info.

There is a cable park, cabins with 2 queen beds and pretty much a full kitchen that sleeps 4 people. A dock to tie off to over night or you can pull out of the water with their two boat ramps. They also have camping sites for tents and rvs with water and electrical hook ups. There is also a large pavilion to gather at as a group.

I miss going to the river, grew up on it and thats what got me hooked on boating and wakeboarding and have lots of funny stories (like how my boat went from 35 mph to a dead stop in 3') didnt see the sand-bar but my boat STOPPED anyway. My kid grew up on it to. Guys you will love it!! Its always been rated in the Top-10 places to ride in water-ski and some wakeboarding magazines. They have helped keep it a secret by caling it the snake river instead of the brazos, so Its harder to find. Just make sure you have your tags up to par and no empties layin around when you leave. The FAMOUS Rio Vista police AND State Troopers are always on the lookout. I will try to make this one but we usually go on vaca around that time so will have to wait and see till later, but I might just show up.

We should be able to get some great footage this year.

I have an idea that I've seen used in a Canon video. A guy took a remote helicopter and mounted a GoPro on it to film footage from above. Now I haven't looked into this year but I'm wondering if I could do the same thing and control it from the boat while the rider is riding - my two concerns: Can it keep up with 19-23mph? And of course, not to crash the chopper into the water.

Anybody out there have experience with remote helicopters?

LOLOL... no one is paying you to monitor me! I get to work around 5:40am... I leave around 5:30. I am afforded a little down time as I do not smoke. I get a 30 min lunch actually in which we still have to field phone calls. Yes, I troll this forum during my work day. :)

David I think you should start a new thread since you now have the dates set. This way people don't have to read through the thread to find the details.

Also, if a mod can sticky it, it would be great.

Thanks,
Cody
