Replaced my Polk in boat speakers today with Exile's new SX65M. These speakers have a continuous midbass driver since the tweeter is mounted to the grill. I always liked the sound of the Polks but the Exiles sound even better. They are very smooth sounding and has more midbass punch that the Polks. Really happy with them!

Nice; I went from Polks to SX65's and love 'em. Interesting that those have black cones, mine are like bruised aluminum.

Looks great, Al. Gonna be a while before I change out my in boat speakers but that's what I'd do too.

List yours for sale, mine sold and I went with the new style. I had a few PM's from other potential buyers on here. They may still be looking to upgrade.

In speaking with Brian from Exile, I think it would take a very discerning ear to tell the difference between the SX65 and the SX65M.

Dusty, have you had a chance to install and audition your SX65M's? If so, what are your thoughts as to the difference betwen the two?

I have been super lazy, they are sitting in the floor of the boat. I'm very curious to hear the difference. I am betting my ear isn't good enough to tell a major difference.

I hear ya. I've had the Exiles for a few weeks and finally just got around to installing them this weekend. It's not like there's any big hurry :)

Yup. My second pair of SXT65 tower speakers are still in the box. I'm going to have an install day when the holidays are over and the bowl games are all done.

You didn't hear? 1. I'm out of town for a while and 2. I don't work for the competition.

Oh, I see ... I guess I didn't realize it was gonna be a competition

Back on topic, What are the specs on the new "m" series? Same as last years? Are yall using the 800.4? to push it?

The back of mine said 100W RMS/200W peak. I am pushing them with a JL Audio M6600 (75Wx6), same amp I was using for the Polks. I think most people are pushing them with the Exile 800.4.

I wanted the 6600 but skimped for the JL G4500 (125w x 4). That amp seems like the perfect boat amp, 6 channels for 6 speakers, and great wattage.

I'd bet the 800.4 isn't pushing them any harder than the 6600. They should sound great!

I've been very happy with my JL M6600. It plays clean and plenty loud.

Al - They look good in there and I'm sure sound good too! Glad they turned out to be a nice upgrade. Guys have been pretty stoked on the mid bass performance. For those of you that have the SX65-C, this is not a huge difference going on. I get a lot of calls form guys asking," should I sell my stuff?" and the answer is no man. The C's sound great. The M is just the evolution of product design. They retail for the same price, we just tweaked a few things.

And yea, I liked the black cones too. That was just a cosmetic thing tho.
