Finally got over to my buddy's to swipe pics off his camera last night....
Over Labor Day weekend we finally got to try a surfbowl. It was our last day and instead of packing up and heading home we went out on the water for a few hours before packing up camp and facing the 3.5 hour road trip home.
For any who haven't done this let me just say - the driving is dicy! We had my boat setup regular side, PP set at 11. The other boat was my buddy's Malibu setup goofy side and following alongside free driving. Setting both boats to the same speed would have been pretty much impossible.
Driving the "chase" boat is a real adrenaline rush, basically on and off the throttle and keeping the distance between the boats even with a lot of back and forth on the wheel. We also had didn't have much time to experiment with how far apart to be as this was a first attempt and we were running out of time.
First shot here is me driving my buddy's Bu, and my boat alongside. Trying to get the setup right. The other bald guy in the last pic has owned both a Moomba and Malibu and refused to drive - freaked him out too much...

My buddy getting back into the bowl. We experimented with my IS Squirt, his HL Broadcast and ended up having the best ride on my 5'10" ocean board.

The feeling being in the bowl is very weird - not like a regular wakesurf at all. It is like you are going uphill so it took some time to get the feel for it before we could throw the rope. Plus having a wall of whitewash that got up to 5ft tall at times right at your back was pretty wild.

I was hoping we had some better shots and some video but the kids were running the camera so this what we got. Oh well, motivation to try it more next year and get it fine tuned!
