View Full Version : Pray for Rain

There's no clouds to hide the sun, and there's no waters in the creeks. And there's a fear in the congregation every Sunday when we meet that devils found all of Texas and he may never leave. Preacher gives a sermon, says pay your tithes and pray for rain.

They are starting to close some of the ramps on Lanier. They say its 10' under full pool looks more like 12-14' to me. Some of the coves we like are very narrow and scary shallow in places . We can no longer get under the bridge going to Lake Lanier Islands 2' deep . Still nothing like you Texas guys I hope you get rain soon.

Yeah, If Lanier gets any lower we may be able to find my boy's wives glasses she lost this summer that she won't quit griping about!

Don't even think about boating anymore.....Instead of looking at this site hourly, I look at it once every couple of weeks. My lake is 53 feet below full, which is 37 feet below normal. All public boat ramps are closed.

Businesses around the lake are closing up. As marina leases come due for next year, I'm sure many people will not be renewing.

I sometimes wonder if we will ever get the rain we need to make a dent in this debacle.

Anyone want to buy my boat?

That's crazy! Is that dust or smoke from wildfires or something else?

A haboob (Arabic:"هَبوب", "strong wind") is a type of intense duststorm commonly observed in arid regions throughout the world. In the USA, they are frequently observed in the deserts of Arizona, including Yuma and Phoenix,[2][3] as well as New Mexico and Texas.[4]

here's a shot my little sister just posted on fb, they other two were two different friends of mine in Lubbock. My little sister lives 20 miles outside of Lubbock in Leveland, TX.

yeah i did see those pictures, thats crazy, one reason i wish i had a 4x4! dallas has been getting a few showers it seems and where i ride is fed by a river in dallas so maybe we will get some water. at least the cold weather is keeping it from evaporating as fast as it was this summer when it was 100+ for like 60 straight days

I live on a lake.. well, make that a mud puddle! New boat sits in the garage with about 10 hours of use on it this year. Won't get used till the rain comes back. Here in Austin, I think the rain is coming though! in 2013...

Next summer is projected to be worse than this summer by some accounts... we had 90 days of 100+ temps.. This drought will be MUCH WORSE then the 2009 drought. Makes selling a property on a "lake" kinda tough too...

i hear people say that "they are prediction next year will be worse" but i still have no idea who "they" is! i have never heard a weather man or anyone like that say this. just people i know who say they heard "they said it will be worse" if it is i guess we can tow the boat to arkansas every other month. limited hours!

So thanks to colder temps and some semi frequent rain storms the lake has come up 2.2 feet in the last month! Should be at full pool by summer hopefully with just a few more good storms!
