Has anyone done anything in the way of a transom saver? As much as I preach to be careful... a board or ski touches it at least once a trip!

There are multiple methods I've seen; Pieces of custom cut Seadek & Hydroturf, transparent film, custom sunbrella shields applied with suction cups, etc.

Sounds like the aluminum treadplate will do then! :)

My wife made one for my brand X. Its made out or 1/2'' carpet padding covered with black vinyl. Its attached to the grab rails but can also attach to the D fittings. I bought one from the BU forum it works well on my Supra but its not as thick. Hers was custom made for the boat.

I'd like to hear more about the transparent film. How it looks, works, etc.

They've been using it on cars for quite awhile. I know some manufacturers put it in high wear areas like door jambs, and aftermarket you can wrap the whole front of the car. The only visible part is the edge of the film, which on a transom could be hidden very well. Otherwise it's crystal clear and very impact resistant. The only thing I can think of to complain about is that it's kinda pricey. If you buy a roll (3M invisishield) and DIY it's not too bad. Installs like window tint or vinyl graphics.

Hey Viking, I like that seadek transom pad, where/how can a person get one? I don't see it on the SeaDek site.

It's a custom jobber from Seadek. Just call and give them the dimensions and you can order just about anything you want. Other option is to buy their kit and make the design yourself. I knew what size I wanted so called them and they emailed me a rendering. Played with the size of the logo a couple times and then approved it, had them cut it and ship it out. Can't remember the cost off the top of my head. Wasn't cheap, but I wanted it.

Was considering doing the tops of the gunnel's and bow walk-way with custom cut peices too but just ordered up a sheet of the 3mm stuff and cut it myself. Wanted some areas of stepping in and out of the boat covered for safety reasons. Think it turned out pretty good.
