How are you guys weighting you Outback V's? I am playing around with different weights and I have yet to find the perfect setup.

Not sure on your boat but my general recommendation on any skiers choice boat is move the weight forward. These boats seem to love it front heavy.

I was trying that last night and the wake got really mellow on me. I was running about 500 center/front and 500 rear and I could not get a good ramp out of it.

I tried it all over the place, up seemed to be the best but it wasn't great. We were running 21.5 on PP

I run a lot of weight mid ship seems to be better than front loading

400 center locker
250 on top of locker in walkway
400 in both v drive lockers
250 on floor as a foot rest for everyone

usually 4-5 adults in the boat too
adjust the wakeplate so where the rider hits the wake is just behind the rider

^Thanks I'll try that next time out. Its getting cold here so I don't know how many more times we will get.

Don't know if this helps for your V-drive, but I generally weight the front at 50% of the rear. But the physics in the V-drive I assume would be different since so much more of the engine weight is in the back. Somebody can correct me on this if the V drive is a lot different from my DD. I never know when the info may come in handy.

I've always read 60/40 on the v drive skiers choice boats. I'm sure it also changes with size of boat as well, though.

will adding weight to the front without adding it to the rear clean the wake up? if i fill my gravity 3 i cannot run slower than 22.5 and keep a clean wake on both sides

Yes 60 front 40 rear.

You wake should be cleaner further with more front weight.

Have you GPS callibrated your speedometer? 1200 lbs shouldn't be washing out at that speed.

When you add weight to the front, you need to bring up the wakeplate a little to get the shape of the lip back.

yes that is GPS calibrated, wake plate at 1/2

The problem with the gravity 3 ballast is it is way too much weight in the rear for our boats. It makes the wake really soft.

so with adding weight to the front how often do you take rollers over the bow?

So would you suggest the 1100 lbs in the center and 400 lb bags in the rear?

You'll take water for sure only IF you do not know how to deal with rollers with a bow heavy boat. It's just the angle at which you need the boat to be when encountering them at idle speed.

i think im going to invest in the 1000 lbs triangle bow sack and external pump. i figure that would be plenty of bow weight, even at half full.

I run a 750 across the bow seats and kinda wish I had the triangle for a little more weight. You won't take rollers over the bow as long as you're ready for it, and even if you do it's no big deal it'll dry out pretty quick. The external pumps are awesome, it will fill a 750 faster than the stock pump can fill the one 400.

luckily for me i dont already own the 750 so i will be starting from scratch pretty much. although i do think i may by a 750 for the rear locker for surfing maybe
