Fed Ex truck stopped a little while ago with an order plus a nice gift from Brian. Got some of the new Exile hoppity hops and another pair of the SXT65's. I did not know much about these so I had ordered only one pair back in the spring. I'm so happy I ordered a second pair. Love the hoppity's too. Thanks, Brian!

Looking at Exiles for my next boat.. since the #1 and #2 choices right now have empty towers..
I don't feel like I need 4 speakers anymore.. I cant seem to get any drivers that manage to get driving done AND get me some music... plus...I dont need that as much as I used to... but.. who knows..
So... I was thinking SXT65's (1 Pair).... but see many comments like kane.. bought two.. then two more. Brian suggested going with XM9 if I only wanted 1 pair..
Was planning SM400.4 amp for that..
KANE, what are you powering 2 / 4 with?

Suggestions.... 2 XM7's or 4 SXT65s?
What for amps?

I am probably going to end up running 1 set of xm7s and one set of sxt65s. I was advised against this setup since it will sound harsh surfing or at party cove but I figure if I want to surf I'll just take the xm7s off. I mean they have quick disconnects...

I have an older Exile amp. I think it's a 600.2 or something. Should do 2 pairs of the SXT65's just fine. Still running the stock Kicker 200.4 for the cabins which I don't play all that loudly. Have the 250.2 bridged for the subwoofer-- just a Pioneer 10". Wanted a little more for the tower and love the pure clean sound of these.

Oh yeah, stop bustin' my balls. Gonna mount my new pair and ride 'em hard though.

Love the Hippity Hops. Nice way to advertise the cool gear (other than the gear itself).

FYI, the SXT's were a conscious decision. We usually run the Flint River where there are houses along the shores. The sound gets funneled back to the rider by the river banks and I don't want to annoy the residents any more than I already do. You could actually hear one pair better at wakeboard distance than you could at surf distance because of the engine noise closer up. I'm pretty confident that the second pair is going to help up close. If not, I'll just have to get that electric boat.

Funny you say you can hear one pair better at wakeboard distance. I can't hear my 2 pair all the well at wakeboarding distance which is why I am swapping one pair for a pair of xm7s.

That's odd because my four SXT's project more than enough to be heard at boarding distance/speed.

If you are sitting on shore and crank it you can here them fine for a long way away as the boat drives off. But when I'm being towed and they are contending with wind noise and noise of the water on my board you can hear them but not as well as I feel you should be able too. I mean I don't want to have try to listen for music, I just want it to be there. Maybe what I want is not realistic?

I think you will like the HLCD's better for what you are describing.

RD, it is realistic but you are going to have to have HCLD's.

Even with Dustys old setup, 4 sxt's and 2 xm7s, all on the harpoon, i was kinda left wanting just a little more. He installed a second harpoon so the xm7s have a dedicated and amp and bam. The first time I got pulled up all I thought was "HELLLSS YEA"!! Where are the pics and review Dusty? With 4 speakers, though, I bet the Harpoon will give the xm7s the power they need.

Kane, did you decide to go with the pod setup or evenly spaced?

I'm going with the pod look I think. Gonna be cold this weekend so I think I'll work on the setup. High is only 77 (brrrrrr!).
