Anyone know the difference between regular 15W-40 and marine specific 15W-40?

I think the main difference is price.

You got EXPERT advice from Larry and since he posted this info a few years ago, I haven't used anything else.

Thanks, Larry, for again chiming in!

From the owners manual.

Indmar recommends 15W-40 Pennzoil Marine in their engines.
If not available, use a 15W40 motor oil with an A.P.I. classification
rating of SL/SJ/CI4/CH4/CG4 or equivalent. Synthetic oils are
not recommended until after the engine has been run for 100
hours.

Indmar recommends 15W-40 Pennzoil Marine in their engines.

Well, looks like Indmar recommends both. Thanks for posting that up from the manual.

For what it's worth, I've been running AMSOil Synthetic 10W-30 Marine the past two years with good success. It has a longer life than standard oil, though, for the amount we use the boat, that doesn't come into play. Still, good stuff.
