Heading out there week of Sept 19, for a course. Wife is coming with with her camera. Anyone got suggestions of sites to see. We're going to be going in to San Francisco on the 24'th, but she's already got some sites lined up there.

There's a street there named after my relatives..."Geary Street"

There is some awesome shopping if your into jewelery. I'm not.

Because of my name I was able to get some free Fajita's from some unsuspecting merchant who operated a wagon on Geary St.

Told him if he didn't give me free lunch, I'd have his license revoked.

I once did a two night gig in San Jose - had to go to the FMC plant to photograph some of the Bradley's being built.

There is a lot of cool stuff to see/do around here.

Tech Museum of innovation.

Winchester Mystery House.

Santana Row (High end shopping and restaurants.)

AsiaSF in San Fransisco (This may sound crazy but if you can get reservations to this restaurant they have a drag show that is hilarious and comes with a 5 course meal. It is usually booked up weeks in advance but its worth it. Me and my girlfriend took all my aunts, uncles and cousins when they were here and they had a great time. Not to worry you won't get molested, I think only strait people ever go there.)

Big Basin Redwood State Park.

Halfmoon Bay (Nice views, Big Waves).

Coastal drive on HWY 1 south through Big Sur (If you make this drive its kinda long around 3hrs down HWY 1 and 1.5 hrs back up HWY 101, but you can also go by Hearst Castle at the end which is really cool.).

12173

Gilroy Shopping outlets /Gilroy Water Park (1hr south of San Jose)

Napa Valley (3hr drive from San Jose)

Lake Tahoe (4hr drive from San Jose)

If you have a weekday free and want to do some surfing let me know and we can take you out on our boat to Lake Anderson. I say weekdays since our lake is small and gets hella crowded on weekends.

Sweet, this is about 30 miles away from where we're staying, but unfortunately the course runs everyday 8:30 to 4:30.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It should keep my wife busy during the day.
1. Still trying to talk her into driving the rental car. Gives her much more mobility during the day.
2. I was hoping that another option for her was BART to get her into SF, but it doesn't come that far south.

The closest BART station is in Freemont. She could drive up to there, park and ride the BART into the city. Parking in San Fran is a beast, so the BART would be the way to go. She will definitely want a rental car to drive around here. Using public transit takes forever in San Jose and most of the cool stuff is just outside San Jose.

I may be able to take the boat out on Saturday. We have to make reservations to launch a boat at Anderson on weekends and holidays, but its not that big a deal. Let me know when it gets closer if you think you want to go and I'll check the launch times that are available.

Appreciate the offer, but the wife is a big sight seeing fan...... So Saturday and Sunday are her days, and we're going to SF both days. I would not be coming home alive if I suggested we go on the water.

However I wouldn't mind meeting you. Always nice to put a face and voice to a post. Maybe supper somewhere after the course some day.

Still can't talk her into driving the rental, even with a gps. In case I haven't mentioned it yet, she's severly directionally impared. For example she needs to use a map to sit down in a chair. However, she's ok with it and manages not to get bored when she comes with me.
