This year I think I'm going to try my hand at winterizing my Moomba. I've heard that you need to winterize the sac and heatre too. I'm curious what the procdure(s) are to winterize the cente sac and the heater on my '04 LSV?

Thanx in advance!

Moomba Dad - The heater has a core through which hot water runs from and to the engine black. Disconnect the black rubber water lines at the engine block and let the water drain from the core. This prevents damage to the water lines and a cracked heater core. Blow the lines to clear any water trapped in a low spot. With respect to the center sac, someone else will have to chime in. My Outback has only the G1 system with a single sac. I hang it up to completely drain, disconnect the quick connect couplers, and blow air through the lines. - Deerfield

I just take out the bags on my boat and hang them up in the storage where I keep the boat.

Cab has a good winterizing thread. As for the bags i take them out and leave them in the basement which does not freeze..

I'll take the bags out, empty and hang them...but unfortunately my basement freezes at my cottage when I shut it down for the winter. :(

I just did my boat tonight, and for my heater I took the black hoses of my enging block and then riged a 3/4 hose barb end to my air compressor and blew the water out of the system. Then I poured 1/3 of a gallon of RV Anti freeze into one of the hoses and blew that through the system again.

For the sacs, I just took my bags out, took the water filter/strainer off and blew the lines dry. To get the empty lines, I blew them out through the exit bilge holes in the hull!

This is really really sad. I feel for our northern brothers on this one. If anybody needs a fix, come on down!

Depends on where you live! Not everybody has a 9-12 month season.
Not that I'm complaining...............oh wait, wait, Yes I am :)

cb - Good move. That extra effort will benefit you in the event there is a low spot that did not empty of water. No worries over winter or regrets come next season. - Deerfield

I blow my heater core out using a 120V inflator designed for tubes, air mattresses, etc. Fits the heater hose perfectly.

As far as fat sacs, drain as much of the water out as you can then put a capful (not a cupful) of bleach in to prevent mold and mildew.

Yeah our weather does vary a "little bit."

But I like the change in seasons, the cold white stuff in the winter, and we don't have to deal with the heat, fires, or hurricanes. And in the winter we have the option of sitting on a five gallon bucket, on a large block of ice, while trying to catch dinner. Try that in Texas! :D

We also have dandy things called snowmobiles that pass the long winter days along!

I am with you, I am sitting here thinking "why are they talking about winter when it is so hot outside???" :)

Man!!! I was a little up set when I saw 68F a couple of days ago in the morning on my way to work.
At least when you live in the south but on the water it doesn't feel that bad. Check the monthly weather reports for Atlanta (my old home) and compare those to Panama City. It is hotter there in the summer than here and colder in the winter. I will take my chances with the Hurricanes! :)

Oh no. We get to ride on the water in the winter. We just don't have to wear coats and boots to do it.

Back on topic.

For the Jabsco pumps do you take out the impellers or run RV antifreeze through the lines in case water is stuck in the impeller casing anywhere?

Bah that's not too bad. Water temp on our lake was 65 today in SE Michigan, and last weekend at the cottage in Northern MI water temp was also 60-65. That's barely wetsuit weather, there's still lots of riding time left!

Where abouts in Mi are you?
