Well i've got my surf wave figured out. 2005 LSV

750 rear locker -- Full
500 floor locker -- Full
400 on seat surf side -- Full
1100 in the nose -- Full
Wakeplate 1/2 down
10.7 MPH
Acme 1235 prop
this is for me riding a Obrien Alias 5' twin tip beginner board. I'm 200lbs.

This is with one person in the boat... i know i know i should have a 3rd but can't find anyone else to go right now... it's harvest time lol!

On a side note... now that the water is starting to cool off (62degrees) the algae has gone away and the water is clean and clear again.... plus i was the only boat on the north end of the lake last night!!

I can ride ropeless with this setup but i have to be careful not to get to far back... the pocket is still fairly short. I'd like to get this setup and then get another 3-4 people in the back 1/2 of the boat and see what it does. I don't like any more weight than the 1100 up front as even in calm water when you slow down the nose gets to close to diving for my comfort!!

What is your boat rated for? Looks like you got over 2700 pounds of ballast, not including the people. Just looking at the specs on the web site. It's rated for 1800 pounds of weight.

Just saying...it's not uncommon for people with wakeboats to run well over weight ratings when surfing given ballast, people, extra batteries/stereo equipment, etc. When I had my XLV I would run 3,400lbs of just ballast no problem. Boat was never even close to the rubrail or listing excessively.

Looks like I'm in the market for ballest now. Funny thing is that I was able to surf with my factory ballast filled and 3 people sitting on the back of the boat. That's maybe 900 pounds at the most.

I just surfed behind a MB Tomcat running over 3k of ballast, HUGE wake!

I could probably surf with just factory ballast but I wouldn't be able to do much... I go by what I feel comfortable having for ballast and be able to operate my boat safely. Thisset up works well for me

Very true. We can all pretty much surf with stock 3 bag ballast systems with a small/med crew. However, the wave would be smallish with not a lot of push or pocket. That's why some of us are a little more serious about surf ballast and modifying these boats. The beauty of an Outback V and especially LSV is that they make for great surf boats with little effort and just adding a 750 in the rear locker and a few people...maybe a little bow weight. I think Moomba accidentally hit a home run with the Outback V and LSV hull when it comes to surfing.
