It's the same story over here RD. This tropical storm may help a little, but I'm afraid it's going to take a good bit more than one storm.

So you guys have nowhere to ride? Seriously? WTF?

I would move to a different state if I could not wakeboard.

RD, those pics are depressing. Luckily, we have no such problem here.

Took a bunch of girls out to the lake yesterday. This is me, my daughter, and 4 of her friends. Love the roomy bow on the LSV!

Beautiful day yesterday, plus ring of fire with lares around the lake with fireworks like the 4th. 60 plus miles with shore line lit up with flares.

The lake is down and not usable right now but the river that feeds the lake is still 30 ft deep and butter for miles. We just have to trailer to the public ramp on the river when we want to ride everyday.

Thanks for all the comments. The zipline was a thick metal cable 200 feet long and we had a friend weld up a handle and used a pulley. On the other end, we anchored it to a pole we pounded into the rock and used a come-along to tighten it up. It was really solid, and suprisingly safe. It also helped get the attention of everyone who drove by.

At first look, it was really intimidating. But the only really "scary" part was stepping off, then it was just a FUN ride. Backwards was a nice rush when you stepped off the cliff. We had our whole group do it including wives and even couples went 2 at a time. I will try and throw some videos up today.

We have been on many All inclusive vacations etc..., but a whole week with great friends, GLASS water, a home made Zip Line, warm temps and a Moomba kind of top them!

Thanks, the surf wave has been a work in progress and I think we finally got it dialed in. The Goofy side is a bit better than the regular but I'm pretty sure it's because of the prop rotation.

It really is a cool lake. Went there this summer and looks like we were riding in the same cove as y'all were for the most part. RD don't be surprised if the water conditions aren't as smooth as what you're used to, you really cant beat rivers for smooth water, but Broken Bow is a beautiful lake. We almost got lost one night coming in at dusk cause the shoreline all looks the same and there aren't many if any landmarks on the shoreline.

Same here, in fact, it only makes sense. It will still be a Holiday weekend, but should be 100% better than Texoma.

or move it to bethy creek and we can have the moomba and supra reunions the same weekend. i mean if you dont like butter water all day everyday then this would be a bad idea. but if you like water that is glass all the time then it might be something worth thinking about...

How about these 2011 pics here in lovely CENTRAL TEXAS! Woot Woot! Got the boat all in in the garage collecting dust in the middle of summer, Woot Woot! (btw this is/was a lake front property I live on) My boat has seen less than 4 hours sence April. And I bought it fall of last year thinking we were going to use the &#$@ out of it this year... I think rain is coming though... in 2013.

usa, you pictures remind me of our lake about 3 yrs ago-ramp completely high and dry, water was so shallow our lake was cut in half, but now its up over the rim-over some seawalls into peoples yards.

David--sucks to have those kind of neighbors, we have em too but dont see them often

Bethy Creek-looked at google maps, is it part of that lake or do you just use the river part ?

We don't see them too often either, in fact I have yet to see one alive. I saw two of them on the river dead about a month apart and then my girl sent me a picture of this one today. She gets to go to the lake house while I am stuck at work! Last time we were home I hopped on a Supra to go for a quick ride and the owner said that when they were launching they saw a boat pulling a "14 footer" out. May be an exaggeration but may not be, I know there have been some recorded 14 footers caught out here.

Bethy creel is actually in a pretty small cover right off the river. There is a man made cut that allows you to get into the river from Bethy Creek but only when the river is full, it is only about 3 feet deep so right now with the river down 3 feet it is impassible. Once you get into the river from the cut the lake is about 4-5 miles down river so you can ride down the river and go into the lake but it is not advised. Once in the lake you REALLY need to stay in the river channel which is marked, the lake is a flooded forest so you can pretty much imagine the stump situation. We drove down into the lake a couple of weeks ago but the water is so low we couldn't even tell we were in the lake. We usually never leave the river cause the water is butter all the time. There is about 20 miles or so of runable river and everyone gets pretty spread out usually. There is a public boat launch about a mile upriver from where the cut is to get to Bethy Creek and right now it is the only launch you can use.

We do it all the time. My girl said they went swimming the day this picture was taken, in the cove where this picture was taken. We have a spot on the river where we always drop anchor and jump out of the boat and have a beer while floating. EFFF THEM GATORS

Jason, you do know that there are 4 confirmed alligators in Stillhouse lake in the river (not main body of the lake).

yes i have heard that AJ but I dont mess around in stillhouse to much and when we do it's near the dam and not the river. Im sure before to long we will have some gators in Belton lake also. Actually read a story yesterday before seing this post about a flesh eating pirahana being caught in a lake near houston and the article went on to talk about the possibility of fresh water stingrays in the future in TX lakes!! WTH

Years ago piranha were illegal in OR and WA for a while (maybe still are) because they found some in the Columbia River one time. Illegal to sell anyway. Basically someone let them loose during the summer and they died as soon as the water cools off but oh no they freaked out and outlawed them. Duh... I had a big aquarium with pet piranhas for about 9 years. They got to be the size of a small dinner plate and were chickensh!ts unless they were cornered. Had to reach in there to clean the tank, etc. regularly with no barrier between us. I always kept one eye on them but they were pretty skittish.

I'd have a hard time getting in gator water... We have seals and seal lions follow the salmon up the river here in the spring and late summer but they don't have the reputation gators do!

You guys and girls are lucky you have beautiful lakes and a beautiful country. We on the other hand have mostly river systems(salt)to ride in and where theres salt theres sharks,so no floating around with a beer and definately afternoon sessions we like to get back in the boat pretty quickly(feeding time)anything bumping your leg cant be good ha.I love your lake houses with docks and glassy water all day,an Aussies dream will have to come and visit one day!Very jealous!

usually the lakes dont have glassy water all day, at least not in Texas. We ride on a river but it is fresh water and while don't have to contend with sharks we do have the American Alligator that we have to share the river with. It seems as though they mostly avoid people and boats, I have not heard of anyone being attacked where we ride but we do see them on occasion.

Yep RFF - I switched my grip about 4-5 years ago to be left bat. I still don;t get out of the water like that however. I was so used to getting up right handed that I kept doing that and then switched once I was up. Just this year I switched to double overhand to get out of the water - less switching - important if you are getting up with short approach to course.

I find the lefthanded grip is consistent with what most of the RFF pros use. And I can say that I think the grip/foot comaptability is important - especially to the weak side pull. I think it helps keep the shoulders open just a little longer.
