I really dig the bigger back seats on the new Rams. My 06 has a tiny back seat for a four door truck.

ya... i'll never go back to a quad cab... crew is the way to go. only complaint is a 5'6" truck box is mighty small!!! but the kids love the extra room and when i load the guys up for rec hockey in the winter time i can put big guys in the back with no complaint about room. Although maybe the heated rear seats have something to do with that... lol

I love my '07 Dodge 2500 mega cab. It was the last year of the 5.9L Cummins.

Just a note here on setups. The technician that works on my Touareg is a Rich man but for some reason he like to go to work everyday. He has a new V-6 Touareg TDI and a 2008 R32 (look it up if you don't know what it is). Anyway when I got my Touareg back from him after an oil change the Beast (my v10 Touareg TDI) was ON FIRE! He hooked up the VAGCOM (VW computer) and apparently change the coding to the Europe Spec. She pulls past Redline at 4500RPM and I clocked her doing a 5.7 sec 0-60!!! I haven't taken it up to 128mph to see if he took away the US top end limit. But you know sometimes there are GREAT TECHS out there! The best part is my mileage is up 1 mpg to 19 in town!

It's pretty cool what a little programming change can do! The Touaregs are great vehicles. If they were slightly bigger I might own one right now.

I need a programming change on my wife's Isuzu Ascender truck (same truck as the Trailblazer, Envoy, Ranier and a couple others). It gets about 10 MPG in the city.

those r32's were a nice car. not the best performance for your $$ in a sport compact, but a good contender..
amazing how much performance the factories leave on the table in most cars, but they don't come without some risk of damage to the engine/tranny. as the old saying goes, you have to be able to pay to play..

vw does seriously need to change the name of their ecu/flashing software tho. VAGCOM?? really?? :)

anything would be better, but not surprising from the company that brings you 2 of the greatest all time chick cars: the new beetle and the 70-80's rabbit convertible :)

Well I won't be racing everyone off the line, so she won't see 5000rpm often. Having driven really fast gasoline powered cars I have to say having over 550 ft-lbs of torque at 1200rpm is nice. Sure the Moomba doesn't exist behind the VW when I am towing, but how much fun is it when you pretty much leave everyone sitting in your dust at a light. Granted a little more Hp would be nice so that some of them wouldn't pass me at 60mph but with AWD and that much torque it hooks up and takes off! Not too long ago I got into it with a New Chevy Camaro SS on a wet and raining road at another red light. I actually had to wait a while before that one finally showed up at the next light! Now can someone tell me why diesel fuel cost more than gasoline when it doesn't take near the refining process?

Good stuff zegm. I've wondered the same thing on the fuel...All I can figure is quantity, way more gas being sold than deisel? The more of something you buy/make, the cheaper each one is. I dunno if that really applies to gas vs. diesel though...

Here's a picture of my truck that I'll occasionally move the boat around with. I wouldn't tow it far with my truck though, since it only has the 4.3L V-6. Potent little engine though! 3rd favorite engine of all time (Duramax #1, Chevy Vortec 350 5.7L from '96-'98 #2). can't tell GM runs deep in my family can ya? ;)

Hey Ryan - I've got a 98 GMC with the 5.7L and only 89k on it. K&N cold air intake, 1" throttle body spacer, exhaust. Thinking about getting a custom tune. Can't go too crazy as it is also my daily driver (only vehicle at the moment). Wondering what mods you might suggest...?

My favorite truck of all times... I had one for 6 months...I leased it brand new, ordered it white, and it came in black (dealer messed up), so I ditched it since it would've been trashed by the trails :( I ordered it with a 5-spd manual, and that truck would keep up with my brothers mildly built Iroc-Z Camaro! Oh to have that truck still today!

I did have a '96 Suburban (1500 4x4 w/ 5.7L) for quite a few years (took it from 100k to 200k), and I loved it too. Still missing it from trading it on on the new '06 Chevy Express 3500. I really don't care for its gas-sucking 6.0L... It has power, but it sure doesn't feel like it, ever... :( That Suburban towed my above K1500 truck all over the mountains on a trailer (to Tellico) and it never missed a beat, easlily out-towing our friends Excursion V-10 w/ a Bronco-II on their trailer. That Suburban towed our old boat awesome too (16' outboard), running 85 or so mph for hours all the way to centeral FL. Only mod was a K&N replacement airfilter, and oversize tires on some Mickey Thompson wheels.

As for your truck Berg, you've honestly got it set up about perfect IMO. There is a lot to be said about leaving well-enough along and having a super reliable vehicle. That engine is just broke in at 89k! Only thing to keep an eye on is the coolant. These trucks have plastic intake manifolds, and they're notorious for leaking antifreeze due to the intake manifold gasket leaking. It was already done on my Sub when I bought it. My truck had 165k on it before it went. I let it go since i had a '98 w/ 65k to drop in its place. I let it go long enough i was burning almost 1 gallon in 60 miles, and anybody else getting in it would never know. It still ran great! It finally started to leak enough that it got into the oil so I swapped it for the '98 4.3L. I've got about 100k on it nad it is still doing fine. On your truck, when you start nearing the 100k mark, I'd do some preventative maintenance and re-seal it.

As to more mods for your truck, there are only 2 things I'd consider:
1- headers with a cross-over pipe ("X" or "H")
2- Ignition kit (high-performance coil and larger sparkplug wires). This made a considerable power difference on my 4.3L. DO NOT BUY ACCELL!!! Junk! Summit brand wires are working great and I'm very pleased with performance, build, and price.
3- Possibly a power programmer that plugs into the computer. I doubt I'd mess with this unless you've already done both of the above though.

Just my $.02... ;)
