I have a bent Tracking fin. The Middle one only. I have a new tracking fin and a 3M product from my dealer and I want to install the new tracing fin myself.

Can anyone give me advise on how to take off the old one and how to put on the new tracking fin?

Thanks.

From what i have read about the tracking fins is they are mounted from the inside of the boat. You need to remove the floor and fuel tank at a minimum to reach them.

depends. vdrive or direct? direct should be easier. Take the bolt off and have fun prying the 5200 glue off! it can be challenging.

My boat is a V-Drive, 2008 LSV. My Tracking Fins look like they are mounted (screwed in) from the outside bottom of the boat with Allen Wrench bolts. There is some sort of sealer around the edges of the fin plate and fiberglass bottom of boat, which I imagine to be 3M 5200.

So getting the plate off doesn't seem that difficult?

Any suggestions on how to get the 3M 5200 off?

Thanks.

called my friends at ATLANTA MARINE

Yes, there are allen-keyed bolts on the outside BUT they screw into nuts on the inside of the hull which are conveniently under the fuel tank. Sorry for the bad news.

Call Atlanta Marine. Ask for Heidi. Tell her I sent you her way and you need some help since you don't have a local dealer. She will probably get one of the techs to walk her thru the procedure and relay it on to you. Repay the favor by ordering some parts from her. She can be reached at 678-482-6499.

Good luck!

Fact. Worthless post, I know, but Heidi deserves an extra shout out.

What part of Louisiana? I will be back in Louisiana next month and would help you out with it if you are in the same area and have not done it. I will be in Ruston.

What part of Louisiana? I'm up in Stonewall......northwest part. We have a "decent" dealer near here.
