boat store here is calling it the shizzznit.

we'll see after time. oj has a bad rep for being a very noisy prop. best mod for my boat was switching to acme..

Agree with sandm. 5 blades means one more blade to make more noise for OJ :D

i have a buddy with a new axis a20 who just installed the 5 blade. i have not ridden on it with the new 5 blade yet but the acme 4 blade it came with stock was silent. my oj makes a horrible noise

No noise or vibration reported by anyone using this new prop. One person reported a smoother wash behind the boat along with other benefits such as hole shot and lower rpm especially when slammed with ballast. Seems like the people switching to it are running lots of ballast...like 3000+

I really wasn't paying attention to the noise, but it didn't sound any different than the 4 blade. David, we were running the 900 stock hard tanks, 2x 750's in rear, a 400 in bow and had crew of 5. Wedge down and up according to rider and 'testing it out'. The 3 ladies had to jump in bow area or else we wouldn't plane fast enough, but rpms never got above 4k out of hole and settled down to low 3k's at speeds of 20-23mph. My biggest fear is damaging the thing. At 660- i'm gonna cry if something happens.

Also- my acme prop puller wouldn't work on it. the blades are too close together. I didn't spend too much time trying to figure it out after install due to the inferno hell heat outside. I'll call them up and ask.

Just imagine my wake only bigger. I only had my 750's about half full when I pulled you last weekend.

your wake felt vastly different than my LSV. i really did not ride behind your boat long enough to asses how it was different or even if i liked or disliked the difference lol. i know i didnt get it figured out cause i was falling left and right. i was a little rushed too to get back to my crew, didnt want to be rude and leave them floating for a long time

1181511816the wake is a little intimidating. I don't have it figured out yet, so will try this weekend. the wedge adds a little lip at the top, but we rode without it most of the day.

I had to upgrade the prop over the standard and had heard the high alt prop didn't do all that well with the added size (over stock pnp) in rear. The other options were a 4 blade acme, but that caused really high rpms when weighted heavily. All and all- really like the prop so far. Here's the standard and 5 blade. I'll snap one of it installed when I get home.

when i get home you will have to let me borrow your old 4 blade to do a quick prop test. want to see how much quieter it will be over the stock OJ

If Matt's old prop is the 1235 then you'll love it and your boat will feel like a totally new beast...but smoother and more refined.

LOL...My ride came with the standard acme 537. You're welcome to it though. Probably not much difference over the stock OJ, but I'd be curious if it cures the noise. Let me know and I'll bring my puller. Should take about 15min to change it at Trinity. I'm keeping it in my truck as a backup.

Got any test data on the 5 blade vs a comparable (in pitch and diameter) 4 blade? The 537 is not going to do well on a loaded down boat so any bigger/lower pitch prop (1433, 1847, 1235, etc.) would be noticeably better than the 537 under loaded down conditions.

well i just got back on the rig today so it will be a couple weeks. i just want to throw it on and see if the vibration goes away. if it does then it will be easier for me to justify a new prop! lol

No comparison data; It's a new boat and I had to upgrade- so I went with 5 blade based on other reviews. This weekend I'm loading boat down with 2200lbs of ballast, wedge down, and should have about 4 in in the boat averaging 180-210lbs. I'll shoot some video of hole shot and rpms at 20-22mpg gps. Gonna do a top speed run as well.

I've got it and all tools in the truck. We can do a quick swap out at launch if you want.

Made it out to Trinity today. I took a couple of quick vids of hole shot and top speed. The top speed was no ballast/wedge. I tested my speed against a garmin 305 edge. Speedo was .4mph higher than gps.
On the hole shot video, I had the wedge down, 2x750's in rear, 2x400's (3/4 full) in bow, 900lbs stock hard tanks full, and crew of 2 friends. Each of us is about 185-210lbs.
Not the best vids, so if anyone wants anything else, just give me a shout. Just trying to help those out looking for an upgrade prop.
