Luckily I had email notification turned on for this shipment because this is how the bone head Fedex driver left my brand new Inland Surfer sitting on my porch today... Ran home during my lunch break.

Is it just me or does that have COME STEAL ME written all over it?

My neighborhood where this little rental house is is pretty quiet usually but I've heard of a few robberies in the area of things like bikes and tools right out of people's garages while they're even home! I'd think that the driver could have been a little more discreet with this delivery.

At any rate, I'm totally stoked to go surfing first chance I get! Helps that it matches the color of the boat too - bonus!

Thanks SandM - I actually laughed out loud (a true LOL) and got a funny look here from a coworker when I saw your handywork! Might as well have said FREE SURFBOARD by the way it was out there on display. I had a big flatscreen computer monitor delivered one time and they took it to the side of the house and stashed it under my truck canopy and then left a note on the door for me. Thought that was rather nice of UPS to do.

Morgan - those are just insulated pipe wraps from Lowes. Worked pretty well because the sticky tape stuff to hold them together actually held to the wood. I've seen guys cut or slice those pool noodle floatie toy things down to use for padding over different racks and railings too.

I had the ups or fed ex guy toss an amp up the front steps of my house to me once. Luckily I have good hands but seriously. He didn't know what was in the box but i can't imagine thats in the training manual.

I had the opposites results.

Tuesday, fedex left my new slingshot board :D tucked behind some bushes next to the garage.

Earlier this summer, UPS left a walker board sitting just like your box, with the tip sticking out and broke :cry:

Well, if you were my neighbor, I might have to borrow it for the weekend if I saw it sitting there..then delivered it back in the box on Monday!

You would have blamed it all on Fedex being slow..:cool:

Most of my neighbors are in their 70-80's except for one crotchety old grump who is early 60's - who just happens to be my landlord's dad. Hence the "no stereo tuning" in the driveway rule.

The weather forecast for the weekend here took a serious dump but I think a buddy and I are going to brave it and go out tonight for a few hours anyway. The "beer theory" is that if it starts sprinkling the water will probably be flat, no wind and no other boats out. Heaven forbid the boat getting wet!

Well the weather was sh!t but I was determined to get a few runs in. Literally starting sprinkling as we turned in to the boat launch Friday night. Gray, rainy and breeze but here's first impressions of the Inland Surfer Squirt.

I was a little worried about it being small for me being a 5' board and me at 6'3" and 210lbs. Holy crap this thing is fast! Popped up with ease and found the sweet spot before the boat was even up to speed. Running 750lbs in the basement, 1100lbs port side at about 85% full, 400lb on the surf side seat, 2 adults and one kid on board. Speed was "uh, that looks about right".

This board is slick on the water - more of a skim style than surf but could still cruise pretty easily. I think spins would be pretty easy on a good day but you could also just hang back and free ride on and on and on.

Even with the rope still in hand it seemed like when I dunked the nose there was no recovering from it at all - total torpedo, not enough bouyance. I played around with my footing and stance a little bit and having my back foot right on the kick pad seemed most comfortable. I also liked the fact that when I did torpedo it, the board didn't come shooting out of the water and try to take one of my ears off. Seemed to come up pretty gently and slow.

For a medium to large wake I'd say this board could handle beginner lightweights to a bigger/heavy intermediate surfer and look sick doing it. It also fits perfectly in the stock board racks as mentioned a few posts back which is a bonus.

I'm really looking forward to getting this thing out on a sunny day and spending some more time on it.

I was originally going to go with a HL Broadcast, CWB Ride, or similar "beginner" style board but after the first runs on the Squirt I'm glad I didn't go the other route. Don't think we'll outgrow this board for a while.

Buddy of mine has a 5'3" Broadcast but he has yet to get on the water this year. I am hoping to get together with him at some point or just take his board and do a side-by-side or run-to-run with both boards to see how they feel.

My UPS guy wedged my TWP surfboard BEHIND our GARBAGE CAN on our side-load garage with no windows. Was there for 2 days before the kids found it (I was out of town). Lukily the kids found it as my wife said she probably would have thrown it out with the trash.

I didn't tell of the purchase =) Buy and ask for forgiveness later - right?
