I have a 2008 LSV with two 750 lb fat sacks in the rear V Drive Compartments and a 400 lb sack in the ski locker. I also have a wakeplate. I find the wake is not near big enough. Can anyone help me figure out how to get the wake bigger? What am I missing? Do I need more weight? I thought about adding two 1,100 lb sacks in the V Drive Compartments instead of the 750 lb sacks. Would this make that big a difference?

try a bow sac..... you dont need 1100's for wakeboarding...

How fast are you riding? What position of the wakeplate are you using?

You dont need a bigger wake for wakeboarding/wakeskating.

Big wakes are a crutch for poor technique.

What speed, rope length do you ride at?

Yep I gotta agree, I started wakeboarding with a 14.5 foot 115hp outboard and was able to wake to wake, toe side and heel side with grabs and 180s no problem.
Then I bought a malibu sunsetter and rode that stock for a bit, then I purchased some fat sacs and a wakeboard prop and grew the wake.
Then last year I bought a 05 lsv, upgraded to 750s in the rear and 650 bow and with the wakeplate up at 22 23mph, I can launch way way out into the flats, it just depends on how hard and witch cut I use.
Are you using a progressive edge or a raley cut, toeside, heelside.

I am not that good at inverts but one of my riding buddies does, raleys, sbends, 540s, backroll, backroll to revert and tantrums, scarecrows all behind my boat so i am thinking you must have the speed wrong or too long of a line or a combination.

I'm going to disagree. Bigger wakes are always funner to ride, if you ready for it. If not, it can be painful...you need MUCH more weight up front, buy the triangle bow sac from wakemakers it'll put 1000 pounds up front, get another 400 pound sac for the lounge area, put the wakeplate at about 25% to make it ramp a little more, and ride around 24MPH and 65-70 feet of line. have fun.

You need more weight in the bow. Check out the integrated bow sac. Without additional weight up front those 750s are actually making the wake worse over the stock 400s.

I freaking love my wake with 750s in back, 400 in the locker, and 500ish in the bow sac. 22.5-23 mph @ 70', wakeplate slightly below half.

My other standard advice - GPS calibrate your speedometer.

Good luck and keep us updated. The LSV wake is a monster when set up right.

+1........ i enjoy huge air sometimes... even daring to hit a double up with an already huge wake........

Put all the stock bags back in, fill them, then fill the 750 across the bow seats and the other 750 in the cabin. Set your perfect pass to 24.7 mph and put the wakeplate all the way up and ride at 65'. Most often I ride with all stock full and just the 750 in the bow at 24.5. With the extra 750 in the cabin the wake is huge, hard and very vertical. The pic is without the 750 in the cabin, with the 750 in the cabin the wake stays the same shape but gets taller and more firm.

Dude, you ride fast! Is that GPS calibrated? One guy that rides behind my boat likes 24 mph but thats at 75-80 feet. Your wake looks nice though so whatever works! I think the end result is about the same is mine, I just shifted the weight back and keep the wakeplate lower.

I havent gps calibrated my boat in since last summer, but i ride about the same on other people's boats. For some reason i've always liked to ride fast. FWIW I learned most of the things I can do with just the center tank filled. Having enough weight in front of the windshield is key in these boats.

ditto on bow weight. IF yourun the 750s full in rear, you need at least 500-600 extra upfront..
I challenge you to this.. fill the rear 750's only half full and add more weight up fronth.. you'll be pleased.
note pro riders set ups.. big triangle up front.. maybe a tube over the ski locker..
usually more upfront..

the triangle wedge sac up front on top of the seats, or the integrated bow sac under the seats.

filling the rear 750's up is most likely pushing the bow of the boat up too much.. probably compensating with wakeplate, flattening out wake..

just my $0.02
but I am content mostly with 1200 lb set up.. I had 750s in rear.. only use one for surfing now..

A little off subject but in an interview with Randall Harris he stated he rides at 28mph and a 92 rope (handle not included). That's pretty sick.

What's a raley cut? I always want to try but just never get ...

saskie99

I would describe a raley cut as a much harder cut than a progressive edge (where you build speed and edge pressure as you get nearer the wake) for a raley cut you want to be going as fast as possible when you hit the wake so you can carry way out into the flats ( more time to pull you raley down)
A raley cut is where you turn at the wake and set you edge very agressively right away and hold that into to wake.
Try it sometime, it is much less "poppy" and carries you much futher out into the flats.

Thanks for all the comments!!

Sounds like in summary, I just need to add weight to the bow. I'm looking for huge air. I'll keep the 750's in the back, the 400 in the ski locker and use the 400's I took out of the back and move them up front on the seats for the big air. Would that work?

I ride around 24 mph and the wake plate 1/2 down. Rope length about 65.

I'd say give it a try. But don't run any ballast you don't need. It's harder on everything and can really slow you down in an emergency. Try adding the weight up front and then removing a little from the rear and see if there's any difference. It might even get better.

If you don't surf very often I would say just put the 400's back in the rear compartments and put a 750 across the bow, I promise you'll love it. To fill the 750s all the way you would need at minimum the 1200 lb. triangle sac in the bow. I messed around with half filling the 750s in the back and putting both the 400's in the bow it's hard to get it exactly the same every time because you're guessing how much is in each 750, also you have to externally fill two bags instead of one. Now I just fill all the stock bags and the 750 across the bow and it's always exactly the same. I also like this setup better for surfing because I can set one of the 750's on top of the empty 400 and completely fill the 750 in the rear with a tsunami pump in less than half the time it takes for the stock system to fill the 750. I'll post up a link to a video I have using this set up a little later.

how do the pumps yall use for the bags in various places that are not permanently plumbed work? we used a external sack and it is a PITA to fill and empty and I feel like there has to be a better way that maybe i just dont know about.

I just use a pump I Plug in to the cigarette lter to fill and empty the sacks. It's quite quick

This pump will fill a 750 faster then the stock system can fill one of the stock 400lb bags.

the pump we have been using pumps pretty quick and works great when filling up but is a PITA when it comes to emptying. You have to connect it to the top of the bag unless you want water to spew everywhere from the bottom connection while you try to get the pump connected after taking the cap off. just figure there should be an easier way to do this

I'm going to echo the front weight comments. Somewhere in the ballpark of the 60/40 rule. Last year I believe the brostock boat was running 750 rears and I know for a fact they had 1930 in the bow. I like bzubke recommendation.

Rd, what pump are you using? The tsunami 1200 for $100 bucks is about as simple as it gets for an external pump.

bzubke...When surfing do you also keep the 750 in the bow, along with the 750 on top of the 400?

I haven't had a chance to try that yet but I think it would work well as long as you have 3 or 4 people in the back corner. I wakeboard 95% of the time so I haven't experimented too much with the surf wave but it does throw a nice wave with only the 750 in the back corner and the ski locker filled.

man im not sure what it is. It is yellow and black and has a long back threaded stem coming out of one end. you plug it in the power outlet on the boat, hook the hose up, and drop it in the water

If you're using fly high sacs and a tsunami, wakemakers has check valve fittings for the bag and pump. The fitting on the bag has a small valve where the water can't get back out (or at least significantly less). To drain, there's a fitting on the pump end that is a little narrower/longer that will push the check valve away, allowing water to drain. It's sold as a package with both the pump + bag fitting. Their site is down at the moment or I'd link, but should be easy enough to find. Edit - Its number W744. You can see it on this page too:

http://www.onlyinboards.com/AccessoryShop/Products/BallastFatSacs/Pumps-and-Fittings/W744.aspx

It comes at a small cost of overall water flow, but without an integrated system, it is worth it to not have water spewing all over the place in my opinion.

I agree with keeping the stock in and adding 600 or so to the bow, wake plate 1/4 up, 22.5 - 23.5 mph, at 70 to 75 feet. Depending on the number of peeps you may need to purchase a fly high brick (150 lbs) to dial in the wake. I have tried 750's in the rear and found a lot of wash. Only until I purchased the triangle bag fly high (used thin cooler in open bow to support mid) and filled 80% did I get a nice wake. Only issue I found was when I have more than 5 people the wake went to crap.... On my original set up I am able to move people around quickly to get a perfect wake. Inverts, 360, 540.... No problem! On this boat I have found that a lot of weight is not really necessary but
it's minor adjustments and the wake plate... Also you will save a lot of gas and more time boarding. Now wake surfing is another story.....
