I've gone to an upholstery shop and get just that panel replaced.

I had a couple of cuts on the bottom of my observer seat base from a sharp edge on the fiberglass. I took it to a local vinyl repair place and for ~$50 they fixed it up and their repairs are nearly invisible.

my local dealer has the name of a guy that works independent of a shop and have heard he does great work.. might try the local dealer for any wakeboat/family runabout and see who they use for warranty/repair on trades...

Has anyone tried any of those uphostlery repairs kits that are out there? Do they work good? To replace the panel I was given an estimate of $400.00! WOW!

Moombadaze posted something on a repair tape not too long ago.

It is on that panel that goes down the side of the boat in the white part of the vinyl. They said they would cut out the white section and replace it with a new white piece. Price ... $400.00. Just for a one inch rip.

Maybe I should be more clear about what I mean when I say "repair." For my tears they used an adhesive to mend the tear, while it is still liquid they stamped the texture/grain into the adhesive to camoflague the repair, then it was dyed to match the vinyl color. $50

That Tear-Aid sounds like what I'm looking for. I think I"ll try it. Thanks everyone for the help.

Garn, I have about the same size issue in about the same spot. Can you let me know how it works out for you. I do not like the idea of $400 or buying a new boat at $60,000. But the new LSV with the new tower has me looking.

I'll do it this week and get back with you Jester.

I have used the tear aid. It works as others have said...liquid that can be textured to match the grain...my job was definitely noticeable though I will say it has held for about 18 months now...am sure a pro would do a mich better job and for $50 worth it.

I've used a product you can get at Overtons or Amazon.com called Tear-Aid. Small holes or tears can be covered with this and get you through the season until you want to get them repaired or fixed. It is clear and tough, so people walking, sitting, or standing on it doesn't cause issue. Runs around $20 bucks for a good size role for all those small rips or holes from use.
