Ok guys I am having some problems getting my LSV dialed in. I have 400lbs in the center, 750 in rear (goofy) and three people in the boat. We were riding at speeds between 10-11mph with PP. I tried the wake plate all over and I could not get the wash out of the top of the wave. It seemed that the platform is catching the wave. Does anybody have suggestions. I have some video but I need to get it uploaded.

My hull and platform has got to be close to yours. I went from 250 to 400 to 750 to 1100 on the surf side (and 750 in the front/belly) before I was happy and got rid of "most" of the wash. That's with 3-4 people in the boat - 2 up front, 2 in the cabin. We moved around a lot to see what the effect would be. I also had to experiment with speed a lot. (Not sure I trust my speedos but I've attempted to tune it with a GPS.) If I recall my ideal surf speed is around 11.5 according to the gauge. I'd suggest playing with your speed some more. I have a new theory that with more weight you may need a little more speed.

Berg I think that your boat is the 22 footer right? Mine is only 21. Next time out we are going to try and add more front weight to lower the height but hopefully increase the length.

Yeah 22 but not sure if that makes a huge diff?

I'd be curious to see your videos. I don't have any from last year, only still shots. But I have a 16GB memory card for the camera now so this summer will be a different story!

I've seen lots of suggestions about approaching this like a science experiment. Change one thing - test. Change one thing - test. Etc. I did a lot of driving around experimenting with different setups with nobody riding just to see what it looked like.


One other thing I just thought of, if I had somebody come back on the platform to take a picture or throw me a beer or whatever the wave really changed and started to wash out. Same thing when I did starts from the platform and rode back into the wave. Had to ride the wash for a little bit until it cleaned up. So that was telling me that the more weight you get in the rear you need to balance out some with more weight up front.

Some have also said that water depth can affect the wave but I've never noticed that and have surfed anywhere from 7ft to 170ft depths.

The water depth has a very obvious effect on the wave. You start to notice it under about 8 or 9 feet. When it is under 6 feet it flattens out a lot so that a big guy can just lose it altogether.

I'll have to keep a closer eye out for that affect on the wave but surfing in 6ft or under? Yikes!!! That feels like a big repair bill comin' your way to me...

Alright guys it is getting closer. I am running the 750 in the rear corner and nothing else. I feel like when I add center ballast I loose all of the push. That is with 3 people at 10.3 mph

Is your speedo calibrated? I think you want the center filled and the wake plate all the way up (this is a MUST with my LSV) and about 9.8 to 10.5 MPH. Everybody sitting on the surf side mostly to the rear.

OK, I just watched the video. It looks like either the wake plate is not all the way up or you are just a hair fast. You can have the rider "ski" away from the wake so you can look at it to see if it is clean. When it is pretty clean and pouring over it should be right. I think you are close though.

Edit: One more thing-- is your wake plate functioning properly?

We use a 350lb in the back whatever side we are surfing on , have someone sit on the sundeck on the side we are surfing, fill the 400lb ski locker bag and have everyone but the driver sit on the same side. 9.8 on the p pass clean wake on that side... took a while to dial it in , different speeds boat loading , etc. works for us.

Forgot, wake plate between the full down and 1/2 . Sometimes higher/lower depends . You really have to mess with the settings on the plate and people positions in the boat.
