Wires from front tower tube to speakers I thought about trying to get the wires to the back tube but thought this looked just fine

My old thru hull gutted and the wires just run through now. I found I was getting some feed back when it was used as a actual connector so now its just for looks since it was already done

My new amp setup!!! I had to remount the amps again after I found the mtx amp was barely holding on with the epoxy I used on the previous set up I had

Too bad I didn't have pics from before the re mount the kicker was mounted to the fresh air hump to the right of where it is now and took tons of space suprising how much more room there is now

I have the same Kicker speakers in my tower. They are really a really nice speaker setup. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

Its just a 350.4 I already had for the tower ran in bridged mode... I will say after last weekend these hlcd's are no joke and already had a old man tell me I'm number one :)
I still need to do some tuning on the towers

I got the same tower speakers. Installed them about 3 weeks ago. Awesome sound out to the rider. I used the kicker 450.2. Next up is kicker tower volume control.

Wait a minute, I am a sailor.......:confused::confused: Never had pate on crackers on my boat!

Still working on trying to figure out a temporary mount where I can put a set on the sailboat, just for the "What The ????" effect it would be sure to bring.

C.Rix- Nice pics man. Glad you enjoy!

I was thinking about getting these myself. Will the ZXM450.2 push them pretty well?

A ZXM450.2 will do okay, but a bridged IX500.4 seems to me to be the hot ticket at the moment.... The ZXM450.2 will deliver 150 watts a side to a set of KM6500.2's, but the IX500.4 will deliver 250 watts per side.

The IX500.4 is definitely the way to go. I just finished one up with the KM6500 "6-Pack" setup driven by a pair of IX500.4's. Thats 1000W RMS on the tower alone and it sounds absolutely amazing. The near-field sound is soo smooth and it gets louder the further back you get, but is still crystal clear.

Hey c.rix - what speakers were you running prior to the HLCDs?

Phil - any possibility of wiring these to get a 2ohm load per side?

Adding the extra mid for a 3 pod per side setup nets you a 2 ohm load.

Alright guys is it possible to run a "6 Pack" on the zxm650.4?

Alright guys is it possible to run a "6 Pack" on the zxm650.4?

It is possible. You would necessarily need to run the amp in 4-channel mode. One half of the amp would run the KM6500.2 components, and the other half of the amp would roun the KM6500. With this setup, you would run 120 watts to each side of the KM6500.2's and another 120 watts to each side of the KM6500's.

There is no way to use this amp in bridge mode to run a 6-pack. The resulting 20ohm load per side is too low, and wiring them in series will give you 8-ohms below crossover and 4-ohms above crossover, resulting in sound that is overly bright.

The better setup for a 6 pack is a pair of ZX650.4's, (since I am guessing you already have one) or pick up a single IX500.4 and then use the two amps together to run the 6-pack. This will allow you to bridge the 650.4 and get its fuill rated power running into a stereo 4-ohm load.

Hope that makes sense... :D

Phil - I was asking about the 2ohm load because I just upped my tower amp to a ZX450.2 - it is powering a pair of Polk MM651UM doubles at a 2-ohm load. The birthsheet on the amp says 496 so I'm guesstimating that is putting almost 250 per channel at 2ohms.

I/we have been surfing more than anything else through last summer so I'm hoping this will produce the sound I want at that distance. Wakeboarding I'm more thinking about not planting my face on a W2W than wondering what song is playing.

However, it seems like the HLCDs will produce good/better sound at any distance (and lower volumes) so I was considering experimenting if I could run my existing 450.2. I don't necessarily need the sheriff boat 2 miles away to hear me though so I don't know if it's worth it.
