Hey guys I was just sitting here thinking about the weekend ahead and wishing I lived closer to a lake as it will take us right about 2 hours to get to the lake this weekend.

I was wondering how many others out there go the distance when getting your Moomba fix?

The closest lakes to me are 80 - 100 miles away...one way! I'm jealous of all of you who can come home from work and hit the water in less than 30 minutes for a few sets!

How long does it take you to get to your favorite or usual riding spot?

It takes me about 15/20 minutes to get in the water. I live on the lake but don't keep the boat in the water, have to launch it every time. Hope to solve that problem one of these days where I can just lower it off a lift and go.

Lake house on weekends , I too launch friday nights and remove the boat from the water sunday afternoon. Only problem I have is refueling, there are no marinas right on the lake so i've got to head to town for gas (with gerry cans)

I have 3 or 4 lakes within 1:15 to 1:30 away, and then there is the 12 hr drive out to the Okanagan for 2 weeks in the summer clean water and no bugs... although the water isn't as clean as I remember it 20 yrs ago...

3 lakes nearby. 2 within 30 minutes and the other within an hour.

There is also a small riding lake about 15 minutes from the house.

Gotta love the natural state.

For some reason I am making a 5 hour trek to Texoma this weekend, though.

Keep mine at a marina. 10 minutes from my house to being in the boat and on our way. Unless I need to fuel up. Then 20 minutes.

If I had to trailer my boat anywhere and had to launch at a ramp my wife and I would be divorced within 2 months.....

I am about 45 minutes away with traffic included. I have to pass by the always busy "Mall of Georgia" which sucks.

Boat is kept about 1/4 mile away from the water though which is nice. After I hook it up, I usually can pop a top within 10 minutes. Unless of course the BLI's (Boat Launch Idiots) are out.

2 lakes, one 25 min and the other 35 min away. I actually work near the lakes so I usually will take off a couple hours early once a week and get my boat from storage and get a weekday on the water which is nice because of minimal boat traffic

I used to live 5 minutes from work and 40 from the lake, but decided to flip that. Our lake is useless on weekends so we moved out here to make weekdays easier.

The houses across the street from me are on the water, but we're not so I don't have a dock. We have a private launch that is a 2 minute drive.

When I was a kid we lived on Lake Anna in Virginia. Just walked right down the hill from the back door to our dock (50 yards) Most of my summer days were spent riding our jet ski's and then when my dad would come home from work we'd take the boat out or go on some nice rides on the ski's with the entire lake to ourselves....those were the days.

I just need to move to a better place...trying to get to the ATL area then maybe my options will be better except for maybe all that crazy traffic there!

42 min. to the launch at the Flint River. But, it really looks more like this:

30 min. to pull boat out of garage by hand and back truck up to it- put platform on and tower up.
42 min total drive time to ramp
15 min to stop and gas up
10 min. to deal with BLRI and get launched
10 min to cruise up river to smooth water

Sounds about right. It takes me more time to pack everything up, uncover it, gas it and launch it than it takes to drive to the lake. I'm jealous of all who live on the lake and have their own dock.

there are 3 rivers within 30 minutes too but yuck not for me !

1:20 door to door from main house to lake house. From there it's 100 yds. We have a 25 gallon gas tank on wheels with hand pump so we don't have to deal with the marina.

Lets see, Lake Somerville is 75 miles but has no water in it. About and hour and a half drive. Lake Houston is about 60 miles but has no water in it. Lake Conroe aka The Gulf of Conroe is about 75 miles and never has calm water. Lake Livingston and the Trinity River are 110 miles and that is where I usually got and also where my g/f's parents newly aquired lake house is and my boat storage.

So I reckon it take me 2 hours to get to my storage, then I have to hook up, uncover, set up tower, and launch. I always gas it up at the end of the day.

Never realized how few lakes are around Houston/Katy. If I were willing to drive an hour to a lake...I would have 9 to choose from.

55 minutes to cabin. Then all we need to do is drop the boat in off the lift.

Yeah, I grew up in Dallas and there were lakes every where. I want to move to the north side of town to cut my lake commute in half eventually.

My comute is exactly 50km so 100km each way.

My RX-8 gets the same gas mileage as a F-150 pickup while pulling a boat so I am not saving any money by having my boat parked at the marina all season.

Untill we move from the current house to the new one our local lake is 45 to 1 hour away and the larger lakes are 1-2 hours depending on where we want to go.

New house we will be 20 minutes from local lake, 20 minutes from the river and still 1 to 2 hours from larger lakes.

Have any of you guys that have to use Gerry cans thought about getting a fuel tank for the bed of your pickup? You see diesels like mine with them all the time but I was thinking if you used that in the summer to transport your fuel and in the off season you can take it out. Just wondering.

2 lakes within 10 minutes, the one i go to most all of the time is 1 minute from my house. boat wont fit in my side entry garage because my newly "acquired" neighbor's built a privacy fence and now the front of my truck wont clear the fence to back it into the garage so boat storage at 100.00 a month it is for me.
