Well special thanks to Family Matters I'm now pumped on another project. Some of us here have the same problem. Today I went out and bought 2 pieces of 6" x 10" aluminum 3/16" thick. Someone on the thread here said that the windshield would have to be raised in order to remove the plate (not true) came out easily with an angled screwdriver (Thanks Ian) I then traced out the plate and cut it out with a jig saw, then trimmed it of on the belt sander. I am now in the final stage which is Polishing, what you see there is only sanded with 220 grit, next is the 400 then 600 then wet 1000 and finally wet 2000.

Thank you for the post and the pics of the project. This was on my winter project list since purchasing my first boat last fall. Problem is it was towards the bottom of the list and time (and weather) have not been on my side. I will print out some of your information and keep it handy for future use.

I am learning allot from this site...and will work to post some pics of our new boat and new camp on the Allegheny River this summer.

That looks FABULOUS! What no answer on the Group Buy?

Great Job really! I'd never believe it would look like that with the Piece of Metal you started with!

Peace

Davinci, I was the one who mentioned having to lift the windshield. Only reason is because that's what service manager told me the other day while getting the 20 hour service done. I know you said no lifting required to remove the plate but same thing when putting your sweet looking new one on? Didn't have to lift the windshield? Thanks for the info and if that's the case I will just have the new piece mailed to me from the dealership when it comes in and do it myself. Thanks for the help

that is what i would do if i were you...not saying your dealer is shady but its a good way to tack on another 50 or 100 bucks for labor for something that took 5 minutes

Yeah I agree totally but It's covered under warranty, boat only has 16 hours. Just not making the drive to the dealership until 50 hour service and was going to wait till then but prolly be easier just to do myself
