Hey guys,

Looking for some ideas for names for a future boat line for Moomba way down the road. Just brainstorming. We currently have two series of boats, the Moomba Outback series and Moomba Mobius series, please throw out some ideas for a third line. For example, Moomba Roo. This is just for fun, give us some ideas! We would like for it to have an Australian or watersports theme, but really no limitations.

Thanks,

Rick

If its a surfing focused boat, then obviously it has to be the drew wolfe signature series. Once you see he pics of my incredible riding skills, you will understand. Bonus for SC is that my royalty fees are rather affordable.

exciting- I'll pose this question to my wife who has some experience working with a branding firm. Rick go ahead and PM me the boat specs and prototype sketches- that will help get the ideas flowing. And if it's going to be a crossover boat I'll volunteer to help with consumer research since our crew does it all.

Bombora an indigenous Australian term for an area of large sea waves breaking over a shallow area such as a submerged rock shelf, reef or sand bank that is located some distance from the shoreline and beach surf break.

Might be a cool name for a line of wakeboats!???

Rick, we talking about a bigger boat, smaller boat, higher or lower end? Might help in picking a name.

http://www.koalanet.com.au/australian-slang.html

Some words from the Aussie Slang Dictionary

Brumby : a wild horse

Dingo: a wild dog

Dinkum: true, real, genuine

Joey : baby kangaroo

Roo bar : stout bar fixed to the front of a vehicle to protect it against hitting kangaroos (also bull bar)

LOL you get the idea!

Or just call it the "No Worries".

Sunbake = means sunbathing; for deckboat (haha but a possibility)
Mozzie = means Mosquito (smaller price-point boats)

From a marketing point of view, hooking up with one of two Australian founded companies, Quiksilver or Billabong, would be very cool. There are endless possibilities there, both huge into surf & water sports.
Moomba Quiksilver / Moomba Roxy / Moomba Billabong

Quicksilver is a US Company. Maybe you were thinking Rip Curl?

I stand corrected. But, you did forget Rip Curl..... :p and both Billabong and Rip Curl are still headquartered in Australia unlike Quicksilver. I would even go as far to suggest that Quicksilver is not really viewed as an Aussie company any longer for that very reason. But whatevs....

I should add that I do like your idea about co-branding with these companies. I think you missed your call in a Marketing Career! :D

I do as well. I know Billabong has a tie with Nautique, but I have no idea how deep it really is. But this idea would be huge. Imagine the possibilities of being able to use their stores or even apparel as a way to reach the market. I would think the challenge would be convincing these brands of the positive impact a co-branding strategy would be for them simply bc a boat manufacturers reach would not be quite as deep and wide as an apparel company as far consumer touches.

I wanted to give my oldest boy the middle name Danger but his mother would have nothing to do with it. How cool he would have been to be able to say to girls in highschool "Don't worry baby Danger is my middle name!":D

Whoops, more hijacking of Rick's thread!.......
