Daughter somehow got some gum on her bedroom floor-its laminate wood (perko style), anyone know a good way to get it off without damageing the finish?

Thanks

WD40 works on stickers and stuff. Give it a try and wipe it up right away.

Try veggie oil its a natural bonding dispersement. I worry about solvents on that laminate. Not sure what it will do to the finish.

I learned about the veggie oil working at a chemical plant. You know when you but something cool with the big UPC sticker that when you peel off leaves a sticky mess? That will clean that stuff off. Follow that by washing with dish soap. Worth trying anyway.

I use WD40 for that kind of cleanup. Works great, cleans right up. Veggie oil probably does the same thing.

+1 for Goo-gone, someone smashed gum into the carpet in back seat of my wife's expedition and I thought we would never get it out. Goo-gone took care of it.

I use that stuff-- goo gone or goof off to take the pine tree sap off the trucks. It falls from the trees over the driveway then bakes in the FL sun to a hard as rock glass like globule that won't come off the finish. I put some of that crap on and the thing wipes off. Pretty awesome stuff.

get a can of compressed air. (Dust Off)

turn it upside down, fire it at the gum at close range and the stuff will freeze. you can then easily get it off the floor

I second this approach. A good freeze will get it done.

goof off is much stronger tha goo gone, goo gone should not hurt the floor, goof off probably will.

update: wd40 and a rag and the gum came right up-no discoloration or any negatives to the floor
