Good deal on one, but need to move quick. Anyone have opinions about this boat?

I've got the Mobius which is the Outback with a tower and it's been a great boat.

Well, boat lost power shortly after throttle was more than 3/4 open. Likely fuel pump or float bowls... Was a bit disappointed to find a 1999 boat with carb and points.

That is electronic ignition. My 98 had that issue when I bought mine in 2002 and that was the only problem I ever had. There were probably more carbed boats then fuel injection and they had a substantial price difference that wasn't justified. Work on a good price. When I bought mine, it eight years before the blue book dropped below my purchase price.

You can do a Throttle body fuel injector mod pretty easy too. Think there only a couple hundred now. Its a throttle body with fuel injectors already installed, then has a computer that plugs in and you mount it in the engine bay, then you get an MSD distributor and coil computer and mount that. Now your modernized. No carb or points and you should be able to do all this under a grand and its simply bolt on plug and play.

Doubt that it had points, but maybe it did. I believe in 99 only MasterCraft had EFi as a standard. Everyone else still was selling carbs on some models.

That issue could be fueling or timing/ignition.

I think you're right Max. Very few had fuel injection, very few wanted fuel injection for simplicity and very few wanted to pay $2000 to $3000 more for it. My 98 had electronic ignition but it looks like there were three powerplants in 99 so I wouldn't have put it past Mercruiser inboard to have points.
