Did anyone have to pay property tax on their boat or trailer? If so how much?

About $25 a year excise tax on the boat and it is itemized on my federal taxes. No state taxes though.

IMO property tax is the worst kind of tax there is. you dont own your land, you just rent it from the government.

now paying property tax for a boat is even more outrageous. i pay enough road tax putting gas in my boat, i dont need any extra taxes

I get to claim my tags for the boat, trailer and truck but i dont pay property tax on them. I only pay property tax on a house valued at 300K when i can only sell if for 150K in this market. Now thats BS.

WTF, this is the first I have heard of that. Whew and I thought we ,up here in Canada ,were taxed to death. Do they tax you on a canoe or 14' ,7hp aluminum boat as well? How about a paddle boat tax?

we pay tax when you buy the boat, but after that, you're done.
registration is around $30/yr and then $20/yr for the quagga mussel permit.
boat ramp charges $25/yr for parking.

cheap if you ask me :)

Not in Michigan, just 6% sales tax at time of purchase.

Registration here on my boat was $45, and is good for 3 years. Trailer has a lifetime tag, so I never have to renew it.

When I did the plates on my Jeep for an extra $10 they include all access to State Parks as well.

At least Michigan is good for something, lol.

Here in SC we have to pay 5% sales tax, but there is a $300 cap on it.

We DO have to pay property tax on it, but I can't recall how much it is...I want to say it is around $150 for my $18k valued boat.

I just sold my '89 outboard skiboat, and I had to pay about $30 for the motor and another $30 for the boat  ... Why they did them seperately makes no sense to me...

In WA we pay 8.6% (or more depending on county) sales tax on boat & trailer at time of purchase (no cap) plus ~$75/year or so for registration on boat and maybe $30/yr for registration on trailer.

Saber, take a look at the boat registration as part of that is an excise tax based on the value of the boat which can be written off on the Federal tax. Washington has no income tax so sales taxes can be written off also.
