So I finally got the ride out of storage and took it straight to my stereo guy to get my new audio system installed. I picked it up yesterday and I am very impressed with the sound. I have replaced the cabin speakers with kicker 6200s , the tower has kicker kmt6's that are being powered by an old sony xplode 1000watt amp I had from way back. I also added two 10'' memphis audio subs powered by a kicker zx400.1 amp along with a new pioneer 6300ub head unit. for the money I have spent I am very pleased. I can literally give my self a headache with this set up. I started dewinterized today only to find that my one and only battery is shot. DOES THE SPENDING ever end ? any recomendations on batterys:cool:

they are coming as soon as I can clean her up Ian. Its crazy how a little climbing in and out can get it so dirty, I finally managed to fit her in the garage though.

Interstate batteries are good inexpensive (per se) battery options. I've run them for years without issue. I would highly recommend a two battery setup if you plan on running the sound system while parked, etc. Nothing worse than finding out you can't startup when needed. Search the audio forum, you'll find loads on the subject.

DOES THE SPENDING ever end ?

Uhhhhhh... I'm sure there are lot of us that can relate to that pain.

I added up my to-do list the other night with ballpark prices and sat back with a jaw dropping 'gulp'. :(

Actually looked at marine batteries last night locally ranging from $90 for a nice group 27 starting/deep cycle to $250 for an all out gell cell (group 29?). Group 24 were a bit cheaper.

I've never looked much on-line for batteries because I'm sure the shipping cost would be a killer!

are group 24s okay to use ? I have been told to get group 27 but the are a bit larger than the 24s. my boat has a dead 24 in it now and it was working fine so it makes me think that if I had two I would be okay.

I'm no battery expert but I'm sure you can use group 24 or whatever your budget will allow. As I understand it, the larger sizes, group 27, 29, etc. will have more reserve & capacity, but not necessarily more cranking amps. Bigger batteries will be able to power your stereo better/longer when the boat is not running.

Gotcha...I work in Collierville. I've heard good things about him over there. I run around with the guys from Soundwaves so if I don't do it myself they usually hook me up pretty well. Where do you usually take your boat?

It's cold but once you get in it wasn't too bad. When we went by the end of the day the peole that came with me were swimming around. So it really depends on your tolerance for chilly water. Find a heater top and you should be good to go!
