Issue replaced water pump impeller 2009 LSV

This Saturday I replaced my water pump impeller. It seems to work but not especially well. When I go fairly hard and then slow to idle or no wake speed the gage will climb to an indicated 175/180. Upon giving it a little gas the gage very quickly drops back down below 150 indicated.

With the previous impeller the temp would climb to an indicated 150/155 and hover between the two.

Possibly - I didn't tighten the four cover bolts enough. They appear to be brass or similar and I didn't want to queer the threads.

Thoughts?

My '07 LSV runs 180 as well.

mine stays between 160 and 180. doesn't ever concern me

Agreed on the 175/180 being normal temps. If you are concerned, check the inlet side of your trans cooler. It is about a 1' pipe with #2 sized pencil holes. Last season I noticed my boat would rise in temps and then fall when underway and I found that there was a 1" square pice of cardboard lodged in there. I check it every so often now. If you have a raw water strainer I doubt you will find anything in there. This is the reason I added mine.

running temp depends-

If you've got fresh water cooling then i think the operating temp is 180 like a car, but if you've got raw water cooling it should not be 180! that's too hot... it causes deposits in the engine from impurities in the raw water eventually.

i think if you have a cat it has to have fresh water cooling.
