Would like some feed back from this statement, it was advice provided by Spencer at Wake Makers. Are the 1100lbs worth it or not?

"I have used both bags in the LSV. You get more weight out of the 1100lb. Jumbo bag but i didn't really notice a huge gain in wake size. I personally prefer the 750lb. fat sac because it fits better and i can still have a couple of vests on top of the bag when it is full. You are not going to make a wrong choice either way."

Thanks,

I have the order ready to ship with the 750lb's....but that little voice keeps saying what about the 1100lb's. Will i be disappointed or should i get the 1100 first off? I also bave the bow sac comming as well....

Is there an upgrade for the mid ship ballast "ski locker" sac, I believe it's a 400lbs stock??????????????

I'd say that if you have 4-5 friends that will go out with you every time then no need for 1100's but if it's just you and the wife/signif other, then go with them as you will want the weight. The difference is about 2 people worth in exactly the right spot.

I'd buy the 1100's every time. never know when it'll be just 3-4 of you out on the water and you don't have to fill them up every time.

as ed can attest, the mods to the doors are relatively simple, unless you build the bracketry one member on here did. it looks amazing..

If you are even asking then the choice is obvious.

Buy the 1100s. I bought the 750's last year and am now buying the 1100s. The cost difference is minimal.

No reason to leave room for regret. If you want to put life jackets on top of it then fill the 1100 bag with 750 lbs.

Not really. The stock one fills the locker until the door pops open. There might be a couple inches up front but it can't amount to more than a few lbs. Bow sac will take care of you.

Question for the guys running 1100's -

I'm assuming the drain port is positioned at the back of the boat and the bottom obviously. Do you ever have trouble with the 1100 bags being bunched up or wrinkled right around the drain so that it is slow, or even blocked?

I've been filling/draining mine from the top with a handheld but am about to put in a "push button" T1200 fill and T1200 drain system. That tight space back there when the bag is nearly full and 'conforming to the space available' concerns me a little.

Where do you purchase 1100 lbs sacks.

What should they cost.

Thanks!!

04-04-2011, 03:01 PM
Just make sure the drain hose is flush on the floor of the locker when you put the sacs in or start to fill. I understand what you're saying about the sac bunching up. Even in the XLV they will bunch a little and the drain hose can bend upwards or kink causing slow draining

bergermaister
04-04-2011, 03:09 PM
Thanks YDM - that's what I was suspicious of. I guess slow is better than none.

If it ever becomes a problem I suppose I can pull out the handheld Tsunami and drain it from the top. Plan to keep that one onboard for movable sac(s) and as backup.

I have the same concern as I finally got a chance to get some measurements. The inside locker measures 20" at stern and 23 1/2" forward, the length is no problem. My question is how does a 50x24x24 fit into a 50"x23 1/2"x20" space without causing stress issues overtime? It seems that the 750lbs sacs 50x20x20 would be the best fit. I also wounder are you getting a full 1100lbs or is it more like 900+lbs? Anyone care to comment?

In my opinion.....go 1100. You don't have to fill them up all the way, But you always have the option.

Go with the 750 and you don't have a choice.

doesn't really matter what the dimensions of the bag are when its that minimal of a difference... the bag regardless is going to fill up and form to whatever compartment its in. to me looks like you should order the 1100 without a doubt imo.

Ditto, when I has the 20ssv I ran 750 in the rear, 600 on top of the sundeck, stock 400 belly full, 400 in the very front on the bow seats/floor.

My new 24 will have 1100 rear, 600 on the deck, 1180 center, and that other 400 will go somewhere..depending on how it shapes up!

Your LSV has more freeboard than my 20 did. My rubrail was under while sitting still, so under motion it was about 2 more inches lower. :)

If the 1100's were velcroed in place, do ya think this would solve the problem of hoses being pinched?

It's a matter of getting all the folds and wrinkles out of the sac once you place it in the compartment to get the hose to stay in a good position. I take my sacs out everytime I use my boat so the compartment can dry underneath.

I can't imagine that velcro will hold any ballast bag in place, let alone the 1100's :)

I pull mine out each time and sometimes have issues with pinched hoses. have to watch them fill the first time each outing.

I will let you know when I get my system in. I plan on adding dual fill pumps to the modified stock system. Adding a 4th valve.

Also lots of timing threads on here for the old system, jessec did some extensive fill times on old plus new. You can just do a recalculation for the 750 bags..

sandm
04-09-2011, 10:27 AM
I don't think in the lower freeboard boats that the 1100's will ever "totally fill". the nice thing about them is that they fill all the nooks/crannies that the 750's won't. I notice that they are around 90% full in mine, but then they start pushing the compartment doors open.

Sea N' Things
04-09-2011, 10:44 AM
O my.....LOL...nice comparison! :) I am just afraid that if something happens to the boat the dealer can use the weight of the 1100's as an excuse not to warranty.

Sea N' Things
04-09-2011, 10:58 AM
Just for warranty concerns alone I may have to go with the 750's because I really don't want another head to head with the dealer. It's all bad enough as it is and the way the purchase is goiong I couldn't imagine battling over warranty issues.

brain_rinse
04-09-2011, 11:04 AM
I want to try the 1100s sometime. The nice thing about the 750s is that I can still use the cargo nets for ropes and handles, even with the bags full. A couple hundred extra lbs would be nice for surfing though.

Sea N' Things
04-09-2011, 11:08 AM
And it's not like the sac's are really expensive, I'm sure the 750's would sell pretty quick as a hand me down for another new boat owner who wants to upgrade. Ya the warranty is a big concern of mind although the salesman didn't seem to be bothered or concerned with warranty when I mentioned it to him last week but warranty wasn't discussed, I am sure the tune would change if something happened.

I don't want to hi-jack my own threat by changing the subject of discussion but below is a quote of mine from an email to the manager of Martin Motor Sports yeaterday. I to would like to see everyone have a smooth and enjoyable buying experience with the dealer of choice.

"according to the Moomba forum thread I created, the President of SC has been actively reading and this may be the perfect place to post my story of this buying experience or it can be an amazing blog of how MMS recovered a frustrated and discouraged customer"

...they have not responded to my email yet but I will keep my threat on this issue up to date

I haven't tried the 1100 I bought yet, but last year I had an issue with my 750 when I went to drain it after wakesurfing. It would not drain, nothing. I had to take the top plug out and stand on it to drain it into the locker and bilge from the top until it was empty enough I could move it forward. The hose was kinked somewhat and the bag bunched up. After that I put a couple of those square throw life preservers on the back wall, one on each side of the fill/drain hose connection, keeps the bag from rolling back over the hose/connection, I have not had an issue draining it since.

Something I haven't seen mentioned is that when going from 400 or 750 to 1100 you may have to extend your fill and or vent line. If you don't have enough length the hose could pull out of the fitting when the sac is almost full and you'll be filling your v-drive locker instead of the sac and you won't realize it until your bilge pump kicks in

Ok - lots of guys chiming in on the issue of the kinking of lines when bags are full and not being able to drain.

Any thoughts or opinions on which type of 3/4" or 1" hose is more study and resistant to flattening out or kinking? I'm real curious as I'll be ordering close to 100ft here soon and haven't been able to compare them side by side yet.
