One of my good friends son (18) was in an auto accident last evening and required some serious neck back and spinal surgery form a specialist last night. He is a good kid who lost control of his auto on a country road.

its tragic how from day to day life can turn on you, so give thanks for today.

moving from a lane unsafely?? kind of sounds like one of those "there's been an accident and we have to write a ticket" charges?

wish him the best and hope for a speedy recovery.. modern medicine can be amazing today..

Quick update,

surgery went well, he has some spinal compression which has left him waist down with paralysis, hopefully this is temporary. very lucky to be alive, he is in good spirits and ready to meet his rehab challenge in Atlanta, starting tomorrow. I hear Shepherd is a great place for this type of injury.

Jo,
I'll certainly continue to pray for him now. I'll also stop in and pray with him if you think it appropriate (You Say) while he's here in Atlanta! I've been in Shepherd's to see a number of friends and church members. It is a great place if you need it, the care attention and effort put in to bring recovery is unbelievable!

Peace
Darren

Joe, Thanks for the update and we'll continue to keep him in our prayers. And yes, Shepard is one of the best for spinal injuries. If we can help let us know.

Same from me as my other ATL brethern. If you make the trip, the guestroom at my house is yours to use. My home is just under an hour away from the Shepherd Center.

Hey Joe, (Love that song by the way)

Any update? How is the rehab going? Shepherd is an old client of mine, and I am very familiar with the center. Fantastic place!

So far so good. It will still be a long haul for him, either way it turns out. obviously hoping for the best . he is now about two plus weeks into his rehab program and doing real well with the upper body exercises, etc. as well as assisted standing, but still no real movement yet:( but he is postive and pushing hard. thanks for asking

JV - is there anything special or some cool surprise Dawg & I could take down to him for you?

That's a great idea fellas. Kidnap him and take him for a boat ride.

wolfeman131
05-05-2011, 11:43 AM
we could do that.

I was thinking more along the lines of a visit from a Cheetah Girl (not the Disney ones, the ones that participate in the shoe show on Spring St. in the ATL). . .

boat ride would probably be safer for all involved.

Thanks guys. I will ceratinly let you know. I talk to his Dad frequently. the cheetah girls would certainly be :D, but probably hard to get through the doors at Sheperd. LOL

Let us know. I'm in for anything. And I bet I would be able to convince a few of those nice young ladies at Cheetah to help out. Bless all those young ladies who are just trying to work their way through school.
