Hi all,

Just bought a 2007 Moomba Outback. It was imported here to Australia.
Pretty much still standard, working on putting depth sounder in spare dash slot. Also trying to get some wake racks sorted as well for all the boards.

Enjoy

Hey Mate, Its a 2005 Aussie Ford Falcon, XR6. Updating to a White Chrysler 300c as the tow vehicle in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the welcome too guys. Love the forums too, very helpful already with Depth sounder choices.

Cheers

beat me to it.. I hope it's a short, flat, level drive never requiring a panic stop with almost no incline on the launch ramp.. there's a whole lot of science that goes into towing, not just that a vehicle has an engine big enough to pull it. be VERY careful towing with a 300c..

welcome to the forums. good looking boat.

Welcome, mate! Does it seem a bit odd you have to import a "MOOMBA"? It's great to share notes with our international brothers. Enjoy the boat and remember: LLTR!!! No worries!

Thanks Mate, Yeah I see what you are saying, ramp I use has slight incline but this vehicle pulls it out too easy, good grooved ramp. Only problem with this tow vehicle is I need to put Airbags in rear end to level out ride.

Lol, yes I know, but did my research on these boats, Nice price, good wake, all round good boat. Heaps of Aussie's are importing your boats as they are heaps cheaper than what we pay here and our Aussie dollar is on par with yours. If I was to buy a 2011 Moomba here it would be up near the 70 grand mark. Tige boats are over the 100 grand so I felt this was a good first time boat for me.

It seems you are all worried with my tow vehicle, It really handles it quite well, its not a 4x4 which seems all you guys drive over there, lol. the boat weights in at about 1400 kg, my current vehicle can tow up to 1650kg so no issues with weight.

Thanks for the welcome guys, look forward to sharing some memories and using your knowledge base.
Cheers

Hi,

These are just some of the pics and video taken on our first trip out on new boat. Bit of an overcast day, windy but found a nice sheltered area on lake.

Hey AusFire,

You are from Newy? I grew up in Port Stephens, went to Newcastle Uni and now live in the states. You must have the only Moomba in Australia! If I recall correctly the Moomba's are branded as Mobius in Australia.

Cheers,
Aaron

Hey Aaroncat,

Yeah Mate, live in Fletcher, near Wallsend mate. Yeah not too many Moomba branded boats over here, yet, lol. Some of the boat dealers are starting to jump on bandwagon importing boats. Heaps cheaper at the moment. I think I got a quote to import a Tige and it was 8 grand, so A Tige thats worth about 80-90 grand here is about 40-50 there so big savings.

Yeah the Bay is a beautiful spot, was thinking of skiing up there the other week until a para sailing girl was hit by a great white, mmmmm, No thanks, will stick to Lake Macquarie, lol.

So have ya been home lately ?? Its Just heading into winter here so boat will be stored for a while cold and wet today and windy.

Ausfire.

Na mate, haven't been home in a few years. Due for it pretty soon though I would say. I haven't seen the sun here in Seattle since September :(

Holy crap! Some of us here worry about gators, but I'm thinking a great white shark would be a lot worse.

Its a hitch that we use over here with the brake cylinder on top. Our department of transport dont like the way you guys hitch ya boats to your cars, lol. Go figure. hahahaha.

As for the great white, Yep its true, happened about 3 weeks ago, about 40 mins from were I live. Nelson Bay.

Yeah Mate, locks the brakes on before disconnecting. Works well, just have to remember to release if rotors and brakes are wet when storing so they dont lock on.

2m great white? must have been a baby huh?

Lol, yeah mate, the big ones like Surfers better, bit slower than wakeboarders hehehehe ;)

down here we have barracudas. im not really sure which is worse but from what i hear sharks can taste with their skin so they might rub up against you for a taste before they attack or they can take a test bite.

barracudas just come at you like a missile with a mouth full a razor sharp teeth, not really as big as a shark but they travel in packs.

in any case, i hope i dont ever have to get off the rig and into the water

I'll take my chances with the gators. At least they sleep all day and only really go out for dinner at night.

Thank 4 the update. Like the new truck. You took alot of lip from us for your car (all in good fun). We are just not used to seeing that too often here in the states. We're too busy throwing money down these big gas guzzlers.

Great looking setup. The second video of your son boarding it looks like you are flying, try slowing it down to 18-20mph while they are learning.
