nope but i did have a buddy run my boat aground while i was wakeboarding... shredded the s*** out of the prop. lovely little repair, was lucky the hull wasn't damaged.

My buddy sucked up his wakeboarding rope into his prop on his SANTE and it bent it up pretty good. Repaired it for $100.

ACME 1433 is the best for wakesurfing and it does not cause any vibrations, right? What is the pitch and diameter?

I just called SC and the stock one is OJ - 14x18 w/1"1/8 shaft size. I have twin 750lbs (thinking on 1100lbs) on order from Wake Makers as well as a intergrated bow sac. With that being said I can see myself doing alot of surfing instead of boarding. I will see if my dealer sells ACME, is the a comparable for OJ product or not recommanded?

O SC said "if the ballast upgrade causes any damage it will not be covered", they could not even recommand a set of brades for surfing only due to liability, understandable...

do some research and you will see why everyone here is telling you acme.
there are a couple of prop test threads and a few others that compare acme and oj.

there are a few "upgrades" that you might look into prior to investing in 1100's such as modding the side panels for the added weight, but otherwise just keep your 400's in case the dealer gives you any headaches. there are many on here running them multiple seasons with no issues :)

^depends on the relationship with your dealer. I bought mine cheaper than nettles off the prop testing(it was used, but looked brand new), but a month later, my dealer told me he would have matched that price on a new one, which was cheaper than nettles.

I called my dealer here in Alberta and they can't match the price on Nettle. The dealer also said that elevation has a bearing on prop selection. I called SC and they said that after 08 the engines calulate altidude changes automaticly.

Any thoughts???????????????

I'd love to hear the technical explanation. I'm sure the "brain" can tell the air is thinner making an engine run leaner. But, elevation also affects the water-- I'm no engineer but I think it's pressure or something. Fellas?

Sorry, misinformed....anything under 5000ft there is no need to adjust prop size to compensate for elevation/altitude changes. I just also called ACME and the recommended prop is the 1433 instead of the 1235 because the 1235 has a loading issue with the BoatMate trailers which is standard for Moomba’s. So with my homework done and a clear understanding, I will be ordering the 1433 with the prop puller and storage case (part # 4999). :)

no need for a prop puller, seriously just take a torch to it, it will fall right off... no need to even tap it or anything, seriously like i said, it will just fall right off.

I used a pair of strut compressors that I got from harbor freight for $9.99 to pull mine. you just need a little pressure against the back of the prop and the spline while you whack it :) my buddy uses another harbor freight tool that he picked up for under $15 as well. have to look when I get home. the prop pullers are not needed and very expensive imo..

and fwiw, unless you plan on carrying the prop on the boat with you, the box they ship them in makes a fabulous storage vehicle. they are a unique box. that's where my oj 13x17 resides until needed...

I guess the loading issue with the 1235 prop varies. Some LSV owners have had no issues, a few have. No XLV owners have complained about clearance issues and I know I have plenty of clearance with the 1235. Outback V owners definitely have been using the 1433

So 100% of LSV owners do not have a loading issue with the 1235 prop, interesting

sounds like it's hit or miss.
I have a supra launch20 sitting on an '06 boatmate trailer. I have zero clearance issues with the 1235 that I got via ed and the prop testing. I have not done any shimming to the bunks.

brain_rinse
03-31-2011, 05:55 PM
You should call Acme and get their take. The 1433 was created specifically for SC boats on Boatmate trailers because of too many damaged props while loading. I would be a little surprised if it was only the Outback that had the problem, but the only way to know for sure is to ask. Boatmate also has a shim kit to raise the bunks if you really want the 1235 and don't want to worry about it.

The 1433 is $75 or so cheaper than the 1235. Not sure what the shim kit costs. When I called ACME they said there would be no improvement in performance on the LSV going with the 1235 over the 1433. Eric from OJ has also said that the LSV gets noiser/more vibration with larger diameter props.

A lot to consider, but in the end they are essentially the exact same prop. They are both going to make your boat tow like a million bucks and put a smile on your face every time you mash the throttle.

Has anyone gone from the "wakeboard prop" to the 1433 or the 1235? I think it is 14.25x14, either that or 14x14.25. Also, i believe it is OJ.

If so, is there a dramatic change?

I did. The OJ wakeboard prop is a workhorse. You can slam your boat to the rubrail and this prop will dig you right out. But it's noisy and and a little rough in getting it done. The 1433 has the same guts but is silky smooth. Viper vs. Ferrari.

i ran over my tube rope the other day. had to get it untangled in the middle of the lake, that was fun. pulled the boat out of the water to inspect it and there was no damage that i could tell. no abnormal vibrations, just the normal one that the stock prop causes (or so i hear).

I'm with ya bro! I hopped on moomabaze's new tubes for the first run with the kids this weekend and laughed my butt off the entire ride until my younger daughter fell off and I thought I had bonked her in the head with my knee. I thought she was hurt, but she was just mad at me for "hogging the tube!"

i dont have kids to enjoy it with but i like to swing my 12 yr old lil sis around. and the tangled rope is the g/f's fault we concluded. she refused to ride the tube back to the dock due to cold water temps and that is what ultimately led to it being caught in the prop!

After reading posts on this board seems people are happy with Acme 541 13x12 prop for wake surfing. I sent an email to the guys at Nettle Props asking what they would recommend for wake surfing and occasional ski/tube application.

They recommend the Acme 543 13x11.5, just wondering what the difference would be performance wise between the two?

The boat is 2008 Outback DD, right now has the stock prop.

Any ideas welcomed.

and anyone else who has switched from the oj wakeboard prop to the 1433, did you notice any gain in top end speed at all? I like the oj prop but would love just a bit more top end for getting from point a to point b or even point f at lake powell.

I just swapped from the OJ to the 1433. I actually lost about 1.3mph on the top end. Not a prob for me. The difference in getting up and moving is way worth it. My 07 LSV accels with full ballast about as good as it did empty with the OJ.

No gain in top speed for me either. I lost 1 mph if anything. It's even more aggressive than the OJ wakeboard prop and handles the extra ballast much better.

Has anyone put an ACME 1433 on a 2004 Mobius LSV? Is the 1433 the best choice for wake surfing as well as other behind the boat sports? Any input would be great!

I think this has to do with the fact that engines make less power at higher altitudes, so at 5000 feet, the performance of the boat with the stock prop will be sluggish especially with ballast full, thus the need a lower pitched prop.

Dan,

Is this 1 mph loss compared to the 14.25x14 OJ wakeboard prop?

When I did my prop test, the stock 13.7x17.5 OJ ran 41mph (gps confirmed) at 5000rpm. The 14.25x14 OJ 466 wakeboard prop ran 37mph at 5000rpm, a loss of 4mph on the top end. So with the Acme 1433, my top speed will be about 36pmh then?

FYI, my current prop, the Acme 537 which is 13.5x16 runs 41mph at 5000rpm.

Thanks,

I got 22 mph @ 2,800 rpm
30 mph @ 3,600 rpm
