Viewing MoomaDaze's profile pics of all the boats he's owned got me curious on how many boats everyone has owned in their lifetime.

Ok , I 'll bite.

1969 15' corsair , 70 hp well used outboard. Re painted it, did the back to back seats my self, new speedo and tach. ended up selling it to start a family.

1989 21' Rinker cuddy cabin. Had it 7 years and enjoyed it well . Kids were little and it worked well for them and us of course .

1997 21' Rinker open bow. bought it new , had it 10 years , installed a tower and full vinyl enclosure for camping. It just needed a perfect pass to complete the boat. Sold it in a week in the winter !!

2005 Moomba Mobius lsv. Bought it lightly used, have used it alot of course. Love to surf and wakeboard with it. Used it 2 years before installing a perfect pass , best thing I have ever installed in a boat in all these years. I don't think I will ever go back to a i/o unless it is a huge cruiser to sleep in .

1986 Glassport 165RX - it was 16.5 feet long, inboard/outboard, with an OMC Cobra outdrive that gave me problems CONSTANTLY, floors that were starting to give out, a big dent in the side where I hit a buoy at night, and half the gauges didn't work. With that said, I bought it in college as a repo for $1,000, built the tower for it myself, and never in my life have I had more fun on a boat. Some of my best memories ever were made on that boat, including when it'd break down at night. I had it for 4 years and sold it for $200 more than I paid for it and still wish I never got rid of it.

In college I was on the UT ski/wakeboard team, which was sponsored by Mastercraft, and I was an officer which meant I had keys to the boat and could take it whenever I wanted it. We got a new one every year and I was on the team for 3 years, so I kind of had:

'05 MC X-7
'06 MC X-7
'07 MC X-15

In '08 I bought my '05 Supra Launch 24SSV and she's a great boat and we've already made some great memories.

Really old 12' aluminum skiff with a newer 15HP Johnson OB. Hey, we kneeboarded and could even ski behind it when we were younger but it took a half mile to finally get up and you couldn't cut at all without bringing the boat to a screaching halt!

1969 Tom Sawyer tri-hull with a mercruiser 120hp i/o. Ugly duckling for sure and not much of a 'chick magnet' but we ran the crap out of it. Years later I actually retrofitted in a late 90's remanufactured 140hp 4-cyl after cracking the block on the poor old thing.

When i was a kid we had a 70 Cimmiron tri hull with a 50 Johnson on the back. Sometimes it would run sometimes it wouldn't. Man we had a great time on that boat. Learned to kneeboard behind it. Once we learned to kneeboard we used to cut really hard and yank the back end of the boat sideways. The prop would cavitate and my dad's mouth would cavitate at us when we done it. Have lots and lots of memories in that boat. Should of never got rid of it.

89' Cobia Monte Carlo sprit 3.0l I/o we wore the engine out in that boat

04' Sea Ray 185 sport sold it last year

1980 Mako 236 CC My fishing boat stays In Destin. Fl during fishing season:)

soon to be in driveway 2011 Mobius LSV :p

1979 Silverline 18.5 footer with a 175 merc. We got it just as i was turning 16 and my bro and i never failed to put less than 100 hours on it for the 10 years we had it. It finally put a con rod through the block. Then i had nothing until 2006 when my wife and i bought a Bayliner 185 with a 190hp merc. then last summer we sold it to buy our 05 LSV. the next step will be to either a supra or an Axis.... but that won't be for a while.

As a kid my dad had an old green tri-hul looking alot like the one above. But it had a late 60's Merc 115 HP OB. If you have ever had one you will know what I mean whe I say - 'Its a Merc....'

Otherwise
1: 1989 Forrester Phantom 166 with 110HP Johnson. sold in 2000 to by next boat for 50% of purchase price. Lots of stories about this boat if anyone is interested.

2: 1999 Moomba Mobius - current boat.

Additionally:
3. I married into a Sears Jetwind sailboat - now junked
4. windsurfer
5. canoe
6. Sunflower sailboat
7. paddleboat

In 1990 bought an Old Towne canoe. Sold last year for $200.00

In 1996 bought a 1986 18' Dixie Bandit 3.0 4 cyl. I/O paid 3k for. In 2008 traded for some tree work.

In 2007 bought a 1987 18'-8" Dixie Hustler 188 4.3 v6 I/O paid 4k for. In 2010 sold it for 6k after purchasing current boat.

In Fall of 2010 bought 2008 Moomba Mobious LS with 28 hrs. on it. Couldn't pass up one heck of a deal or I would never have puchased it. (One mans loss is another mans gain)

I Have never had a boat payment and never intend to!

Only other boat I have owned was a 1989 Supra Comp. Purchased it in the fall of 1988 after graduating from pharmacy school. Sadly during school I had a picture of a supra comp from one of their brochures on my bedroom door. I would look at it when I was tired and stressed from school and remind myself that someday I would have one new boat. Fast forward 22 years and I just recently sold it and it was definitely a bit sad. As so many others have said, I had some amazing fun on that boat, too many memories to count. My recent outback purchase has renewed my excitement to ski and spend more time on the water with a boat that hopefully will be reliable for many many ski seasons.

PS I think only someone with a passion to own a boat will understand the deal with the picture on the door lol but it was one of the best purchases I ever made!!!!

my current OBV is the first boat I've owned myself- prior to that I freeloaded off my dad and so now it's my time to repay him for all the time and money he put into boating for me.

I'm going to see if I can find pictures of the boats he's owned. He started off with a wooden boat that his buddies and he purchased in college and used to ski on the Ohio River in the 60s; My uncle was in school for chemistry so he put together a concoction to try to strip the boat so they could refinish it. The story goes that it did nothing to strip the boat but completely destroyed the driveway where they were working on it.

The first boat we had when I was a kid was a yellow 16.5' arrowglass with a 70 hp Johnson. It had black vinyl interior that would roast your rump in the summer. I can remember it being a big deal when the motor burned out a piston and we upgraded to an 88 hp johnson. After that he upgraded to an 18.5' aluminum sylvan fish and ski, then a 20' sylvan fish and ski, then a bass tracker party deck 21 deck boat and then I got my moomba.

I totally understand! I have had the Moomba poster Brochure on the wall in my garage for the past 2 or 3 years...everytime I'd come out to get something out of the deep freeze I saw it and it would remind me to keep my eye on the prize. I just picked up my first boat last weekend! '05 Mobius LS... when I was a kid my dad had a 1978 Glass Master about 18 feet I guess. He had that until '91 I was almost 12 at the time. Have a lot of memories on that boat...Good times!

Hey I forgot one - haha.

At about age 14 or so I got an MRP Outrageous Drag Boat. That would be a 1/10th scale R/C, twin battery, electric engine. Thing was a screamer. Does that count?

In fact I still have it and my 8yr old has big plans to get it going again, although the color has faded pretty badly from a bright white to a dull yellowish haze. Years ago I half sank it after skimming off the top of a rock at full speed (~25mph), creating a 4" gash in the hull, and rolling it. It survived but hasn't been on the water for, (uh, how old am I again) a really long time...

I learned to ski behind my dad’s 2nd boat, a late 60’s 15’ Crestliner with a 40 horse Johnson.
After a couple years he upgraded to a brand new 16’ Chrysler tri-hull with a 105 horse Chrysler outboard.
After college, marriage and moving back to the land of 10,000 lakes we purchased a 3 year old, 1985 18’ Larson runabout with a 130hp I/O.
Kept it until 2005 when we purchased a new 19’ Glasstron with a 220hp I/O.
The kids really started to getting into wakeboarding, barefooting, slalom, jumping and anything else they can find to do behind a boat, so last spring we found our current boat a 2007 Outback with 75 hours. Only wish we would have made the move to a ski boat sooner, the kids progressed more in one summer than the prior 3 summers combined.

MY GOD! If your as Old as the # of vessels you've owed you have to be in your 50's? ha ha..........:D

LOL

Past
homemade mid-50's Aristocraft,
mid-60s Glastron "Corvette" boat,
90s Regal Jetboat,
16' Old Town Whitewater canoe

Current
80s 39' Marinette Flybridge Sedan Cruiser,
80s Laser sail boat,
90s Smokercraft Pontoon,
80s Astroglas Fish & Ski,
60s open aluminum fishing boat with vintage Johnson,
2010 Moomba Outback,
two 12' windsurfers,
WindJammer 9' dingie,
8' life-raft,
2 person kayak

I think that's all I have personally owned - as a kid we had 4 runabouts and 4 cruisers that I can remember - didn't have many early in my adult life 'cause the wife didn't want them - don't have that problem now - ROTHFLOL

And, YES, I'm in my 50s - almost 59 actually - still cutting it up pretty seriously on the slalom and want to use the new Moomba to start wakeboarding and maybe with a hydrofoil

"And I don't forsee another boat for a LONG time, if ever."

I'm with ya on this.

I'm 8 months away from being totally debt free (remaining balance on mortgage) and I'd like to stay that way for the rest of my life.

Thanks!

Wings and Yeungs at Buffalo Wild Wings are on me.

And just a FYI for you and Stacy...the Clermont Chain of Lakes is almost totally up to normal levels.

One can now travel the entire chain with an inboard.

This weekend I'll be walking down our boat ramp (in the water) to see if we can launch our boat. It looks like it's do-able. We haven't been able to use the ramps (1/4 mile from my driveway) since 2003.

7. paddleboat

Now we can add - 2009 Mastercraft ProStar 197
Heated seats and shower

Well, I got started early since I was very fortunate to live on a lake in northern Indiana growing up. My brother and I bought most of our boats together.
At 10 we had a red 14’ Rinker with old 40 hp Johnson motor
At 12 we moved up to a orange 14’ Glastron with 70 Evinrude
At 14 we got Purple Passion. A 16’ Glastron with 115 Evinrude. Purple metal flake, purple carpet, purple seats.
At 16 we moved to brown 1984 Glastron/Carlson 7 meter with 140 Evinrude
At 18 purchased our first real ski boat. 1980 Ski Supreme white with blue letters.
Then college, family and a move to southern Indiana happened.
Then I wanted my kids to love the water as I do
Bought a beautiful 1990 Supra Cobrio open bow
Then made the move to my 2007 Moomba XLV as we ventured into wake boarding and surfing.
The last chapter will be a MOJO once I get my wife behind one.
