I put two extra fat sac's in the trunk and 500lbs of weight in the floor ski locker.

On my '01 Outback I was told not to put ballast in the trunk as it is over the gas tank a little and can cause it to burst. I did do it before they told me that and didnt have any probs.
WIthout factory ballast we would run 1 600# on each side of the engine and a 350 in hte bow. THat was on an 01 Outback, made the wake pretty nice, definetly big enough to get inverted.

I put a 2X10 and a 2X12 the width of the boat on top of the gas tank. Weight is on the outer edges of the tank. I have not had any problems and the wake is AWESOME!

Can you reply or email me some details on how you did that? I have an 01 Outback (non LS) and would like to try it.

The cheap way to do it is to invite about 6 of your friends, the fatter the better. With the factory sac filled and 3-4 people on the rear seat is all you should need. If you have one, keep the wake plate fairly close to zero too, this will make the wake steaper. I have a 2001 Mobius, the wake is killer with the set up i stated, and flatens out nice for skiing at above 25mph.
