I feel like I remember a thread long ago that involved information on converting an IR headunit to accept the marine wired remotes. I'm curious if anyone knows what im talking about, lol.

I'd like to retain the wired remotes I have, but want to change my HU to something that plays DVDs (thinking of adding a screen at some point).

I have a bunch of IR repeaters, is it possible to wire that to my existing remotes, or something?

ian,
PAC has a universal code learning device that will convert existing remotes.
I don't know the model # off the top of my head but we've used these with all Sony and supporting remotes such as CPS and Access Technologies. They are a little slow and clumbsy but they work.
Also, a good outboard DVD player is very inexpensive and with the right accessories you can deliver multiple sources into the Kenwood changer input (ipod, DVD, camera, etc.).

That's a good call too. Maybe I'll just look at upgrading to a better Kenwood HU with wired remote - I just dont care for the base model whatever it is that I have.
