View Full Version : What if you could only bring one CD???

Lots of guys are upgrading their tunes setups this winter. Lots of us expect to play even more music this season. SO, I have a question to pose. I am looking at expanding my musical horizons beyond classic rock and 80's tunes so I'm very interested in hearing what your favorite music on the boat is. I understand the value of the DJ mix stuff but I'm not a big fan. So, here goes. (I know we are in the IPOD generation, but imagine you dropped it in the water or something.) What if you could bring only one CD out on the boat with you? What would it be? What's your favorite stuff for the boat? If you can only narrow it to two that's OK. Let's hear it (pun intended)!

man, I can't think of an artist that I would want to listen to over and over again other than mixing (insert plug for dj brian bass here :) ), but that being said, I just finished watching the michael jackson movie on starz this month. didn't think I would enjoy it, but for as creepy and wierd as that "man" was, he has some amazing vocal skills and a best-of cd would be on my short list.

If we were headed out today, probably Kanye West's latest. I'd have a different answer tomorrow though.

So you said you were tired of classic rock - but ...

"Who's Next" - The Who

"Black Ice" - AC/DC (at least this is 21st century)

gotta be Uncle Kracker................

But usually burn an MP3 CD and have everything on it (country, punk, alternative, pop, rock, a few heavy hits, you name it). 1 CD and hours of music :) We have Boating mixes specifically for days on the water.

Are you going to hangout fest? Sounds like something you would enjoy, especially being that you are in Bama

Birdman - 5* Stunna
or
KOL - Only by the Night

I understand its a personally opinion, but i don't understand what any of yall see in Nickelback. All there songs sound the exact same, and dudemans voice is like a wannabe James Hetfield with the -yea... added to the end of everything.

we had a nickleback jam seassion the other day. i dont see why people hate on nickleback, they have a lot of songs that musically sound good and the lyrics are usually good too. i love nickleback when im working out at the gym

Thats funny you mention that, I was talking with a buddy of mine about hangoutfest earlier today. They have a killer line up of bands, definitely need to look into it more. On another I saw the line up for Bonnaroo is packed with great bands this year also, but I think hangout fest is more my speed.

I wouldn't mind going the rest of my life without hearing this song again!!! I banned it from my boat last year.

I like the hangout fest more because sometimes i act like a little girl. Id rather stay in a condo with full size bed and have the ability to take showers opposed to 3 days in a tent and community showers. :D

Agreed. IMO, Nickelback = the new Poison, cheese rock - but hey, I admit listening to it. How can you not crank Rockstar when shuffle hits it?

I'll take Def Leppard and Kenny Chesney to cover multiple bases.

EDIT: Just saw Tool, great choice! If you're a fan and haven't seen them in concert, do it!

Thank you to everyone for your input. I have been sampling all of the stuff I have never heard of and like a lot of it. I won't bother telling you what I don't like because no one would care. But, props to MMandley for "Shinedown". This is right up my alley. Had never heard of this group but actually knew a song or two from radio I guess. Good stuff and good for the boat. Thanks to all -- keep 'em coming!

Glad you liked them. They are one of those low flying bands, they don't do a lot of hipe but there music is just dead on good jamming material. I listen to pretty much all music like that if you want some other similar type music let me know brother.

Absolutely. I've been going to the sites that tell you similar sounding stuff. A few hits but some bad crap. Really enjoyed it on the boat today so thanks! My wife and my daughter also agreed it was good.
