Finally got the time, and help to get these images up.

This is my 11 OBV, It has the GIII System w Wakeplate, two sets of swivel racks, bow filler cushion and a bimini top. I have made some changes to it and will gladly show them off.
Comments positive or negative are all welcome.

I picked her up in October and brought her home to start the MODS.

I added a FULL Evile system, Big 12, 2 prs XM7s, 3 prs SX65, 800.4, 2500.1 and a Harpoon.
I added a second battery as well as relocating the original one and added a battery charger. Added a blue wheel, Blue LED dash lights, Blue LEDS in and above the cup holders, Blue LED bars under the dash and in the storage compartment.
I added shelves in the rear lockers above the ballast bags, they are removeable.
Added more interior lights and tinted the windshield.

that looks pretty clean!

I really like the shelves over the ballast bags...may have to do something like that myself. any pictures of that process would be greatly appreciated

Todd, gotta say it again, sick setup you have there.

Do you have 4 spinning racks?

How did you run the tower speaker wires?-I dont see any wires

Post more photos, getting a couple idea's

35" tires 6" lift on the truck?

The whole setup looks great! Can you give some more detail on the false floors in the rear lockers and the sub box and why/how the sub is recessed?

Moomba- I mounted the speakers on the front tube and used a vacuum to get the wire from the bottom to the top. I used the front tube for the XM7s and I will stagger the SXT65Qs on the rear tube.
And you are correct 35 + 6.

Brain
The rear shelves are made from starboard. I heat bent the sides to match the exact shape of the boat. Then attached a "lip" all the way around so the shelf could sit on it and still be removable ie.. the hand holes.
As for the sub that is a Big 12 that i recessed into the enclosure using an old style fiberglass technique. it is fairly simple just takes some time.

Very nice setup! Love the all white.

I guess the OBV has more room under the helm? Or did you cut out a hump? You seem to have more legroom with the exile box than others. Recessed is very cool look.

Why two holes in the rear storage?

posted in the other thread, but now I see stereo shots.

I absolutely love the truck. I'd trade anytime.
I like the boat, but it really needs a stripe or some color imo. kind of stark.
the interior of the boat looks very nice. sub setup is cool and the amp rack looks nice. steering wheel is very unique. really adds to the overall look of the drivers helm..

one question-it is a boat, and water has a nasty way of finding every nook and cranny in it. are you concerned about the batteries laying on their side with no boxes and the procharger against the floor? seems that the one in the front is one wakesurf roller away from being drenched? I know they are sealed gel cells, but seems that there's a potential for wet terminal posts and possible arcing?

I'd love to see how that sub setup is built. That looks great!

Nice Job!!!

Why two holes in the rear storage?

i am guessing it is so you can fit your hands in there to remover the shelf when needed to access the ballast

Thanks for the props.
No Im not worried about the batteries or the charger, everything is marine but mostly I dont plan on taking a wave over the bow, especially one big enough to drown that batteries or the marine charger.

rdlangston13
You are correct on the holes. I overbuilt the bottoms, used 3/4 starboard, and they are a little heavy so I put two hand holes in them so they are easier to handle without causing any unwanted damage.

I didn't either but it happened twice and it was other boats that caused it, he has a point.

Nice boat. :)

Both pieces are marine grade and supposed to be water proof, i guess thats why they have warranties.

Wow, love it! Great ideas, well done.

*Did your boat come with the swivel racks or did you order them aftermarket? How much either way?

I have to second that water will most likely come over your bow and soak everything. With the GIII full, add a few friends and a rough day on the water = big wave over the bow. It can happen to even the most experienced driver, I'm sure most on the forum will agree. I worry mostly about one of the Exile amps, the Charger, and the Batts.

Like I said I really like everything, just thought I would give my .02

Thanks for the props...

As far as the batteries I have used them in every other boat, and there has been many, and they seem to work no mater what I do to them. As for the charger I had it in my old boat and it was pretty indistructable, if it breaks, it was cheap so i will get a new one.
As for the amps, HEY BRIAN, I need new ones these broke?????

I ordered the boat with one set of racks then ordered another. The original set was like 600-700 with the boat, the second set was like 1100-1200 from Moomba. I had to drill holes for the second set but it was very easy.
note.... Swivel racks do not swivel compltetly with the bimini top on the boat, they hit the support tubes..

As has been stated before, your boat is absolutely killer looking! The ghost white and dark windows just sets it off!

Todd good looking rig and set up man.

You mentioned later that you had a Pair of SXTQs going on the rear tube?

Also as for the water over the bow, it will happen bro. You will have no control, at some point the nose will come down and theres a roller and splash lol.

On a good note, i dont see your batteries having a problem with it, i dont think you would get any shorts eighter as people have to remember these are DC not AC. DC doesnt short out in a wet environment nearly as easy as a AC system does.

Lastly i like the amp rack you got there, im looking at it and trying to figure it out. Looks like a stair system rack. I like it. I also wouldnt worry about your Exile amps getting wet man.

Last summer Brian flat out said, Mike punish these things and see if you can get them to fail.

I would push them so hard they were buring hot to the touch, i stuffed towels and back packs in there till you could barely close the door. We even would stack towles on them and use them as a towel heater LOL.

At night id leave the boat outside and there would be condensation covering the amps. I just let them dry out and pound on them some more.

Yea blow an Exile amp while using it as intended and i seriously doubt Brian wouldnt send you a new one to swap while yours in in repair. Exile is just that good.

Lastly i really like the look of your truck on those rims and tires. I might look into new rims and tires for the truck and boat to make them match next year. No can do this year as we are investing most of the extra cash into the new home being built.

I would how ever highly reccomend some long mud flaps or a full rear rock guard like i run on my truck. I run 325/60/20s = 35inch tires and i got the rock guard and im happy that i did. I got a couple rock chips on my trailer the first couple pulls and got my guard and since i havnt had a single new chip in my trailer. I wouldnt even want to think of a rock hitting the bottom of my boat.

Good tastefull looking set up you got there man.

Thanks for the props
I spoke w Brian today and he pretty much said"no worries" i dont know if he was quoting the moomba logo or what....

I dont travel far w the boat and usually pull it with the wifes lowered Yukon. I did have a conversation, via e mail, w boatmate and was told by them that my trailer is "going to rust soon anyways" so I guess a new trailer will be needed before I worry about chips.

Hope to see you down here in May

why is your trailer going to start rusting?

Everything rusts in FL salt air LOL

you joke about that salt water air. when i was working on the ocean endeavor we would buff something to prep it for paint and by the next day when you come outside it would already have new layer of rust on it. talk about a pain in the ass. i dont see how ships stay afloat in the ocean, just constantly chipping and painting chipping and painting

mmandley
02-16-2011, 02:57 PM
I wasnt joking brotha LOL.

I lived in Tampa for a bit just north of the AFB when i was youngin i remember lol.

As for the big ships yea they rust like crazy but most all larger ones use the anoid plates on the hulls and they are charged with DC current and this helps keep the rust down as those plates rust instead.

Wow, I love the look of the tinted glass on the all white boat! My OBV is all white as well and I'm definetly going to look into tinting the windshield... but probably not quite that dark.
