View Full Version : my 2011 LSV

i had a 03 LSV i bought 2 years ago, with no imidiate plans on upgrading.
well then i went to the houston boat show :D they offered me for trade in value, the same money i paid for my '03 2 years ago. and then my bank gave me some insanely good terms. after going back and forth for a few weeks, i pulled the trigger. had them order me a 2011 LSV built to my specs.

well i just got pics from the factory! the boat is WAY ahead of schedule. :D it was sprayed and layed on the 3rd, and now 6 days later the boat is nearly half done looks like. its near the end of the rigging line awaiting the tower. there even talking a possibility of a february delivery date.

No more baby Moomba for you two. Can't wait to rep Moombas at "the alley"...we're coming in like gang busters this summer. No big plans for me this season for the boat other than installing the PP Stargazer and maybe some LED light rings on the tower and under the platform. Did you order it with a bimini or you going aftermarket? Let me know if you need to borrow some shade under my Z5. Let me know if you need a tow back from Austin with the boat.

in the fourth pic there is what looks to be a 6 in plastic cover over the gas tank area. what is that for anyone know? i assume its so you don't have to take the floor apart to get to what?

STANG KILLA SS
02-11-2011, 03:37 PM
thanks guys i had a hunch this combo would be understated yet bold. kinda like a chip foose car. :D

i went back and forth on poping for the $700 bottom blue color, but in the end decided against it as it would show scratchs horribly. so for longevity i went with the white.
yeah i have thought of murdering out the tower. and even more tempting because i have several freinds that do both PC and Ano.

Gus i know the square carpeted hatch is for the new center drain plug (my 03 did not have one) but i cant remember what the black plastic round cover is for. packing nut access? i may look into carpeting or painting it though.

bzubke1
02-11-2011, 04:09 PM
If you powdercoat the tower do it before you put tower speakers on if you plan to that way you don't have to run the wires twice its such a pain. Thats such a tough looking color scheme it would look even tougher with a black tower imo. You'll love the center drain plug the only way I can get my bilge fully dry is to back it down a steep ramp and let it drain for five or so minutes.

I had a powdercoated (so they said) black tower on my Outback. It did look cool but got scratched and dinged all the time. I wouldn't do it again. Then again, if you have buds in the business you can redo it every few years I guess.

It's to access the fuel pump on the gas tank.

That's odd since you can do the same thing by removing the 4 screws that hold down the floor panel. I mean how often do you really need to get at the fuel pump???

It's definitely for fuel pump access, but you raise a good question - why put an access panel there since you would not need to access it very often. Below is a pic I took at this year's Portland boat show of a 2011 LSV,

stock 14 x 18. there wasnt an option listed like there used to be, the "high altitude/wake prop". once i add the 750s in the rear and integrated bow sack ill be going with a acme 14 pitch.

well we took her out for her maiden voyage today! we started the motor break in process and got 4 hours on the meter. also checked everything out for the dealership "to fix" list, but couldnt find a single thing wrong. everything worked perfect. hell i was amazed even the bildge stayed BONE dry the entire 4 hours. not a drop.
the new reversable pump ballast is gonna take some getting used to. but the fill times are a HUGE improvement. the redesigned dash, windsheild, and seat, and there relationship to each other were also definatly improved.
the new bigger hull is amazing handle the 20 mph winds so much better. very smooth. and although the same motor, it seemed to be much more spunky (and touchy). tons of torque. overall we were very happy. but have several more "sight seeing" trips to the lake to get the 10-20 break in hours before we can start sacking her out hard. we noticed with no ballast the wake and surf wake was actually ridable.
pics!

It's the Acme 1235 prop, you can look up the specs. Google Nettles Props because they have the best prices I've seen and they are located in Austin,Tx

brain_rinse
02-21-2011, 09:10 PM
The Acme 1433 is the exact same prop as the 1235 except it has 1/4" milled off the outside edge to clear our trailers. Acme made the 1433 specifically for Skiers Choice boats on Boatmate trailers because enough people had prop/trailer collisions. The 1235 is a legendary prop and countless people run them without issue. But there is a very thin margin for error, and if you're buying new you can get all the performance of the 1235 without the worry and for ~$75 cheaper.

ACME 1433! And WakeProps has them cheapest right now when you use the MOOMBAOWNERS discount... $450 shipped

(hey guys as mentioned earlier im trying to keep this thread about my boat ;) )

one of the first mods i wanted to do was to plug the ski locker "drain" to keep the bilge water out. well it looks like when they went to the 1" reversable system they also changed that rear drain. its now just a big football shaped hole in the 'glass  and the hose now runs threw it.

STANG KILLA SS
02-22-2011, 12:05 AM
no your correct. that will allow me to nearly fully drain the bilge but while on the water it would not help as it would still be able to slosh around and get into the ski locker. but as of now i have zero leaks adn the bildge stays bone dry, so its a none issue right now. i guess i cross that bridge when it comes.

Cory, you shouldn't have a problem with water staying under the ski locker or in the bilge. Just take your time going up the short steep hill out of Rogers Park, especially coming out of the parking lot and making the sharp right, and you'll be good

got another 4 hours on the boat yesterday.
how do i reset the timers, i put 750 bags in the rear. and after the dash meter reachs 100% it cuts off the pumps even though the red light and switch is still on.
and if you flip them off then back on the pumps only run for like 30 seconds.
how do i bump up the timers?

well got allitle done on the boat today.

did the 20 hour oil change. and had all the oils and planed to do the Vdrive and tranny too but got lazy, and the manual says there good till 100 hours anyway, so ill wait on those. oil was still clear as water and the magnetic plugs will catch any shavings.
http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/4540/20hroilchange.jpg

also installed a sub, it was a freebie that came with my 03 LSV. sounds good and with the built in amp, couldnt ask for a easier install. although after i put it in my drivers controls for the stereo quit working. they power up and shows the station/track etc, but none of the buttons work, so ill have to look into that.
http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/9517/subev.jpg

also found some color match "no skid" mat at garden ridge. so i cut that up and put it in the cooler and glovebox to keep them from getting scratched or stained up.

looking good there however I do not have answer about your remote.

I know on my kenwood if you unhook the battery and then hook it back up it wont let you use the aux in without going through some long drawn out procedure to turn it on which i can never remember for some reason. maybe it is like that and there is an option to turn on the input from the remote?

also, im not sure if you noticed but we did changed the dates of the jam so hopefully they better accommodate you! It is now July 15-17

STANG KILLA SS

thanks! i got it fixed i just unpluged and repluged everything for the 3rd time and it fixed it. ive heard about that aux in turn on nightmare of the kenwoods. i guess thats why they chenged them.

great news on the date change!

bzubke1
04-13-2011, 05:32 PM
For the kenwood. Hit the source button until it reads standby. When it gets to standby, hold down the menu button until you see a menu pop up. Once that menu pops up push the joystick on the right down until it says AUX:OFF. When you get there push the joys stick to the right once and it should say AUX:ON. Then just hit the source button again until you get to AUX, plug your iPod in and you're set. I turn the battery switch off after every use so i've become a pro at this.

Hey stang have you had a chance to ride behind the new boat yet? How do you like the wake compared to the 03? How are you setting it up ballast wise? How do you like the digital cruise pro? I just got it from waterski boats dallas. My brother works there so I got a killer deal.

STANG KILLA SS
04-20-2011, 12:14 PM
mine doesnt have the kenwood ;)

yeah been riding it for awhile. few differences ive noticed
the 03 tracked better
the 03 did much better in the wind (getting blown around)
the 11 handles the rough water better.
the 11 is easier on left to right balance.
the 03 came out of the hole better
the 11 tower is MUCH stronger not flex or side to side wooble while crossing lake
the 11 lower dash and windshield is double edged. MUCH better view. but harder to stay dry/warm.
the 11 deeper storage is a huge improvement
the 11 grey swim deck is also better. no more black marks from the swim deck on the seats.
11 wake is still very easy to setup. clean even if you ride slow.
anxious to get bow sack.
im currently running ski locker full, rear sacks at 40% and wake plate half way and 22.5 mph. when i get the bow sack it should help coming out of the hole. might even reduce rear sack weight like i did on my 03. i like a rampy wake vs a peaky wake for consistancy.

the digital cruise pro works really well. VERY good at holding speed. and doesnt go over then come down on pull out. it lowers throttle early just BEFORE hitting marked speed instead of after like my old PP. the one MAJOR draw back is corners. because its so accurate at keeping speed it applys a TON and i mean a TON of throttle in corners/turn arounds. you have to be very aware and ready, and its still hard to hang on at times. newbs wont have a chance lol. it feels like your doing 30mph.

bzubke1
04-20-2011, 12:47 PM
That's good to hear on the cruise.I'm curious to see what it's like having the boat hold speed through corners, especially the tight u-turns we have to make on the brazos. We were supposed to have it installed yesterday along with the prop but they only ordered the gauge and not the module, i thought perfect pass for under $200 was too good to be true. So probably next week we'll be able to check it out.

In the winter i noticed what you are saying about trying to stay warm with the widshield. Even with a windblock in the bow you could always feel a good amount of wind.

If the boats feeling a little sluggish with weight. Definitley upgrade the prop. We just tested the new oj 14.25x14.5 wakeboard prop yesterday. It is so bad a**. I always thought people were embelishing when they would say their boats accelerated faster with full ballast than it did unweighted with the stock prop but it's true.

Are u using 750's in the rear? or the stock bags? If your using the stock bags thats pretty much the same wakeboard setup my brother rides, it's real nice and rampy.

STANG KILLA SS
04-20-2011, 02:30 PM
my guess is youll have a hard time making the U if yours kicks as much throttle as mine. i know i cant turn as tight as the 03 with PP, just too much throttle is applied.
maybe sensitivity is adjustable.
yeah ive upgraded props before, it was not nessesary with my 03. this boat it looks like its going to be. but i want to add the bow sack first. should help with holeshot to get the bow out of the air.

im running 750s in the rear. but havent reset the timers, only putting in "40%" so about 160 lbs in each.
once i get the bow sack i probly wont use the rears at all. only for surfing. this is how i prefered to ride my 03.

04-20-2011, 02:35 PM
I can't stand too much wake but love the LSV with just the front filled. It gives a nice firm wake and gives you a lot of adjustability with the wakeplate. You can really put a lip on it if that's what you like or soften it a bit and make it more rampy. I'll be interested to hear your observations after you add more weight to the front only.

moombadaze
04-20-2011, 04:07 PM
Pat, I'll have both a 400lb or a 750 lb bag you can add to the walkway and fill with tsunami pump to try in may if you like

kaneboats
04-20-2011, 04:17 PM
I have an extra 400 I could use. I usually don't bother with any extra ballast cuz we have 7 people in the boat. You have firsthand experience as to what that does to the surf wake. :) I really don't feel like I need anything else. If I do anything it will be adding another fill pump to the surf bag. I do want to see the 1100's in action though.

bzubke1
04-20-2011, 04:28 PM
Just throw one of the stock 400's in the walkway, should give you a pretty good idea of what the wake will be like with the bow sac. We rode this set up for quite a while as well, it's really nice, firms up the wake a bit. Come to think of it I can't remember any wake set up we used that was bad, these boats are really easy to set up for boarding imo.

rdlangston13
04-28-2011, 09:33 PM
we always just fill gravity three all the way full and go. im not much of a boarder so i cant tell a difference really but we did pull a guy who was really good recently with the gravity 3 full 2 girls in the bow, me driving, on guy in the observer seat, and one guy in each corner. the guy seemed to like the wake and he was getting a lot of air

bzubke1
04-28-2011, 10:43 PM
Yeah it's a pretty solid wake. I need to get some pics of the wake with the 2750lbs we've been running lately. It's super beefy.

I just received my new prop 1433 as well a few days ago, there were some grinding mark on the backside of the blades in two locations. I am pretty sure this is how the balance and fine tune the prop rotation?

Wasn't really a theory just wondering what the purpose is of the ridges in the blades.

kaneboats
05-04-2011, 08:44 AM
The ridges help it bite the water. You can run a flatter (lower pitched) prop with less cup and get the same performance.

I just made that up, by the way.

STANG KILLA SS
05-04-2011, 09:31 AM
they are simply machine marks from the CNC, allows you to run a faster head speed on the CNC (ie more production pieces per hour) but leaves a rougher (the grooves you see) finish.
i know allitle about the subject ;)

Sea N things: my prop also had a grind mark on the back of one of the blades. you may be correct on the balance idea. similiar to how they do a crank or flywheel.

well we tried out the 1433 prop this weekend, and it was just too much for me. too many RPMs. we lost nearly 10mph at 3000 rpms and our riding rpms (22.5mph) went from 2450 to 3150! so i called Nettle this morning and there gonna swap it no questions asked for the prop i origonally wanted, the 1939. which has a 15.5 pitch. a nice middle ground between the stock prop and the 1433. i think it will be perfect for my needs.

well i spent my 4th of July installing some new LEDs in the boat.
used some LED strips that we use on our RC airplanes, and some left over aluminum bar i had from making the custom bimini top.
Total cost was under $30 and took about 2 hours

didnt want the speaker ring look, i wanted more of a undercar neon glow. end result was just what i was after.
