So far so good, but unfortunately that's not what prompted the purchase. I had a Tahoe that I planned on having for many more years but after a new transfer case just a few months ago, the slipping transmission was more than I could tolerate. Hopefully the beefier drivetrain on this one holds up a little better.

I recently pulled my boat with 04 tahoe (33k miles) and then pulled it with my 04 denali (150k miles) within a few days of one another ... day and night difference.

Not sure how that translates to the new models but I'm sure its similar. In summary, i think you are right, should do a better job.

Well the 24's are now stacked up in the garage. I thought they were cool and all, but not really my style. I got some factory 22's and while not quite as loud as the twenny fos they still look pretty good. Not mine but you get the idea.

I don't research these. We had a new SUV and 5 kids. The cable went out and then we had 6. I bought a used Suburban so we could all ride together. It works good for towing the boat. But I don't know what difference the Denali, or other models makes. What motor or other specs on one of those is different from a straight up Tahoe (I assume this translates to the Suburban and Yukons too)? Thanks for any key knowledge.

The big difference with the Denali and Escalade is the powertrain. They get the 6.2L engine with 6 speed transmission plus all wheel drive. Other than that a lot of the options become standard but nothing too different on the inside. I think it was 2009 when GM dropped the 4 speed and made the 6 speed standard in all of them. That's a big improvement in my opinion as the 4 speed was what kept me from buying another Tahoe.

That's my next ride. A must is the 6.2l in the denali/escalade. Pulled with the neighbor's 5.3 and 4speed and was just OK. If I see a deal on a 6speed and the 5.3l engine I'll take a look but probably still step up the engine.

On my suv, we went from 16" and huge sidewalls to 20" and a 45 sidewall and love the looks but I can really feel acceleration struggle with the much heavier wheels and MPG went from 19 highway to 16, ouch. towing=forgetaboutit haha

Those stock 22" are very nice and not overboard for that truck.

I love the engineering behind that new 3.5 from Ford, but I'm not a new car buyer. Plus with such a major change I think that one needs a couple years of real world proof before I'd feel comfortable owning one.

Yeah I agree 100% with that, however if Ford is being 100% honest in its little YouTube video series where they beat the hell out of that motor over and over again then I would say it has already proven itself!

@ sailing217 - If you decide to upgrade to the 6.2 one day make sure you reseach about the cold start knock (csk) if you do a search on the above website it'll explain it. Its a common problem and very annoying, mine has it every morning til it warms up. I mention this because if I had the heads up about this before I bought the truck it would not be sitting in the driveway.
