Were planing a mini jam in Clermont Florida. This is just a bunch of Moomba owners hanging out.

Dates: the 3rd weekend in May the 21st and 22nd

Boat launch is on Lake Minneola

Plan to cruise the chain of lakes that include's Lake Hiawatha, Lake Palatlakaha, Lake Minnehaha, Lake Susan and Lake Louise all via the Palatlakaha river way. Plan to start the cruise around 10-10:30 am and have lunch at the state park on Lake Louise-bring your own food. There are restrooms at the state park.

Some of us will camping at the State Park, but there is no way to camp and leave your boat in the water as the campgrounds and cabins are to far away and there is no ramp on this lake.

We are interested in going but Ima little confused.
If you are staying at the state park and there is no ramp and no place to leave the boats, how does that work? Did I miss something????

Todd

Todd, it is kinda confusing I agree. The campground has no ramp inside the park boundaries so we have to use the ramp on another lake and can then travel thru the chain of lake's to get back to the state park. The only reason to get to the park by boat is for the picknick tables and restrooms as there really is not very many other place's to pull up to. What we did last year was just trailer the boats back to the campground for the night-it's only about a 15 minute car ride to the park from the ramp. Hope this helps

Depending on a job prospect and our current tenent's ability to move, we may be moving into the house at Cory Lake around that time. Our house sell (under contract in 5 days), my future job, and the current renter are all in flux. Hopefully, by the end of Feb, the picture will be much clearer.

Max- you guys could easily just pop over and jump in with any of us if it was last minute and you had the boat in the wrong town that day. We wouldn't be doing any slalom but more's the merrrier for boardin' and surfin'. Love to have you there.

Sweet

Once you get into the 30's my boat puts out glass out the back, I don't slalom much but I've heard some of the guys rave about the Boomerang's slalom.

I'll have to leave my 1100 lbs of ballast at home that day

kaneboats
02-08-2011, 06:18 PM
Well, I'm not much of a slalom guy anymore but I may have to give it a go. My oldest daughter will hit you up for a pull, I'm sure.

Definately.

So how many boats are we up to? How many typically show up every year?

moombadaze
02-08-2011, 07:37 PM
Cham, Gad to hear your planing on making it. This is a 2nd for what's being planned-minijam/camping weekend. The last Jamboree was a dealership sponsered event and there were around 30 boat loads of peeps. I dont think we will see those numbers this year. Not exactly sure at this point on the numbers but think were at about 6 boats with Wolfeman131 and family from Georgia coming without there boat and hitching a ride with us or Kaneboats.

kaneboats
02-09-2011, 10:20 AM
Last time we did the central FL mini- camp jam there were just 3 boats but it was in April (2009) and a little cool out. Still had lots of fun. Think we ended up on Lake Harris.

11 Outback V
02-09-2011, 11:01 AM
Did you count me in on that boat count?????

I've been talking to Drew trying to work out accomidations. The wifes idea of "camping" is a hotel without room service!!!

Todd

Do you have a list of who is going?

moombadaze

Reads like the list I had in my mind. Very slim possibility of the people who bought my old boat being there-but if they do make it I'll be shocked. Btw they sold the boat last summer and its back up for sale with double hrs on it a year later

Just realized who 11 Outback V is. Todd, we are going to put you to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a post about him from another area:
. . .
Outback V is down in Florida land.... So, ya, it's a bit of a drive for him.

The install job he's been working on is pretty damn first class. He's a big league 20 year experience installer.
. . .

Brian
Exile Audio
. . .

We may have to add a mini "Tech and Tune" event to the show. I know Stacy and I can use all the help we can get.

Help for me is right. I know I can get the amps mounted, wires ran, speakers installed, but tuneing will be interesting

Ive been lucky enough to see some photos of his work--Its clean and simple. I think were going to try and get some photo's up of his work tonight.

I will be more than glad to help you guys in any way I can, even if that means doing a little tuning while I am up that way.
Could probably use some watersports help from you guys:rolleyes:, I have only been boarding and only done that about 12 times!!
It will be a fun event for all who join.
I will be bringing my Exile OBV, there might even be some NEW changes tyo what everyone will be seeing shortly......cant give up all the secrets:cool::cool:

kaneboats
02-10-2011, 03:25 PM
Gotta keep us in suspense. That's OK.

We can help with the watersports. Especially surfing boat setup and technique for beginners. Plus between us we have LOTS of boards to try.

A little tuning help would be awesome. Looking forward to it.

Southwest into Jacksonville has some of the cheapest flights to and from anywhere. It's a little further but rental cars are probably cheaper there. I've had great success using Hotwire and Priceline for cars. Lots of the time you get a free upgrade.

It was just brought to my attention that Daze is going to head up on Fri. night and camp out. I was planning on heading down early Sat. morning. I'll have to talk to the boss and see if she'll go for 2 nights of tent sleeping. Odds are slim but there's a chance. I was worried about driving 4 hrs on Sat morning, boating all day, setting up tents/camp, cooking dinner, etc. I might be worn out. Getting there on Fri. would let us sleep in a bit and get the camp setup stuff out of the way. Have to check it out.

Update: We'll be there at about 8 on Fri. night-- changed booking to 2 nights. LLTR!!!!!!!

LSV capacity is 13 peeps

Kaneboats is at 8 leaving room for 5
Im at 8 with Wolfemans crew leaving room for 5 peeps-the dogs are staying at home

so just in the lsv's alone we got room for 10 more--thats like 3 more 3 person familys.

Wont have to worry about filling balast is all

water temp in lake Minneola is up to 66 degrees!

Last time I was out it was 54.

I was in it today without a wet suit. I'll admit it was a little chilly, but not too bad once you were in a little while.

Thank god it was 78 degrees and brilliant sun to warm you up immediately.

Starke Lake was good today, we were out all day in it. Cold at first but it was fine with a good wet suit.

After a set I was hot and soaked for a bit to cool off, got a sun burn too.

I'm pretty sure our lake temps got to the mid/high 80's last summer.

yuk

Surprisingly they didn't. Last summer was very short for us. The water normally gets in the 60s by early June. It was middle of June and water was still 54 to 58 in some of the local lakes.

My favorite Henry Hagg, or The Hagg as we call it gets pretty warm as its a lot smaller, in 09 it was in the 80s and man i hated it lol. Last year it got pretty close 78 or 79 but as long as the air temp is over 85 it still feels cool.

I will take over 80 water any day don't get me wrong that just means we have a longer summer.

Last summer it rained for the better part of August so lake temps cooled down fast and we lot a lot of good time on the weekend.

Now if you goto the river, the Willamette or Willy as we call it, the water never goes over 70, now does the Columbia and ive been on them both a lot last year.

kaneboats
02-21-2011, 10:46 AM
We've got 70's for the next 10 days. It's gotta be warming up down there. Even after the cold it could still be a real warm spring.

Clermont lakes are down 4 feet.

Only thing this rain is gonna fill up is my pool.

When hurricane seson starts, let's hope for a bunch of tropical storms.

I went my Starke Lake earier today, it was down about 3 feet and it's back to normal levels now.

I'm not sure what drains into that lake but I'm telling you the water is up BIG TIME.

I wasn't expecting much out of these storms but my goodness, the last two days have been a weather freak.

We had 70 mph winds here yesterday. Power was out for 6 hours.

moombadaze
03-31-2011, 07:35 PM
yes the weather has been extreem, our lake is up about 2' tonight and its still raining and draining into it. We had some wicked wind today-trees down all around us-cars crushed, screened pool inclosures mangled, trees on houses, all in about a 100 yard radius around our house but the big tree in the bag yard is still upright and the neighbors in the front is still up. feeling lucky.

cham

Yes, here it is usually in mid to late May. It may be slightly earlier near you. We'll have to be extremely careful at night-- stay away from the water. They are much more aggressive at that time. Stacy, are you bringing the dogs? It's a double edged sword because they can be helpful but can also attract the gators.

30 days till the 2011 Central Florida MiniJam. Time to start making my list of all the crap I have to bring like beer, tent, beer, ice, sleeping bags, beer, chicken wings, beer, the boat, beer, and, of course, some Yuengling.

moombadaze
04-20-2011, 12:17 PM
30 days-is that all. Man time has been flying by. I've only got 2 maybe 3 days free between now and then to do some surfing.

moombadaze
05-01-2011, 07:18 PM
Had a great day hanging with Ed cruising thru the lakes and canals. We made it all the way thru to the last lake (lousia) with no major issues-hit sandy bottom once on our way and on the way back hit a stump or something that was about 2 feet under--this was on the last canal/river area. We both felt its not worth trying to make it all the way with prop damage fears-but we can get to a small lake as long as the levels stay the same that is protected and we'll just raft up there for lunch then get back to surfing/wakeboard after lunch on the big lakes.

OK, so it's now 17 days away. Daughter #2 just tried out and made middle school cheerleading. She is a captain. Congrats. Today we were informed there is a mandatory cheer clinic on Sat., 5/21. I have had it up to the friggin' eyebrows with cheer crap conflicting with weekday plans, weekend plans, summer plans, etc. I'm about to pull the plug on the whole thing for both of them. Never mind the $2500 per kid per year on tumbling and gymnastics classes, cheer camps, travel, uniforms, shoes, poms, bags, camp clothes, practice uniforms, bodysuits, socks, jackets, embroidering, etc.

I planned and booked that weekend back in what? February?

I don't really care if a kid has a life outside of cheer. I draw the line when the parents and none of the other kids get to have a life.

It's two days-- Sat and Sun with the new choreography for all the routines next year.

With so many boats out I'd love to see some dual boat surfing.

Put two boats close together and surf the merging wake.

cham
05-15-2011, 05:36 PM
LOL

I've only seen it done with jet ski's and they made major air. Just behind and between the boats the water dips down (looks like below water level) and it rises VERY high. I've never seen or heard of anyone wake surfing it but I'd sure love to see/try it.

I'll have my surf board :)

Ed,

Thanks so much but don't worry about bringing the oil. I just don't think I'll have time for anything that involved. Won't even be there for dinner on Fri. night and I don't have room for all the stuff I'd need to do that on Sat. night. I'm going to throw some burgers on & serve up some pasta salad. If I'm lucky I can find some Wise chips around someplace. And lots of Yeungs!

My #1 concern is a boat that's paid for. This is an uncertian market and being able to make financial moves without obligations is king to me.

Owning the title on my low hour boat is great, but there are times when I see those massive wakes coming off the back of a heavily balasted V drive that I want to make a trip down to the dealer.

He only asked for the first one but I'll give him anything you can get to me. I started making longer CD's for personal use where I would put the first album intact and then add some of the later best songs at the end so you could have a little more and fill up a CD. My own version of a Greatest Hits. I can't believe I have no CD's anywhere and no MP3's. I'll have to check my old backup hard drive tonight and see if there's anything there.

Edit: Turns out I have a bunch of original CD album cases in a box in storage. Some of the CD cases actually have the original CD's inside them. So it's possible that I have some Boston in there. But, that stuff is buried and will have to wait till after we sell the house and move. Could be a while.

Great to meet you guys! Charlie, I'll never forget when I looked up and saw my 11 y/o son driving your Boomerang. I'm still not sure how that happened. For those that weren't there or didn't see, we didn't raft up or anchor, we were all just kind of floating. Charlies' boat was separated from the rest of us. LOL, I was as shocked as you were. All the kids were swimming around us and I mentioned how far my swim for a beer was going to be. So your son spoke up and said you want me to bring it over for you? I said "if you're feeling like swimming go for it" (in my head I'm thinking he was going to swim it back, obviously we weren't on the same page).

So a few minutes later someone said "hey, is that kid going to drive your boat" I said "no, he asked me if he could swim it back over". We then see him jump into the drivers seat. I can't remember who was next to me at the time (maybe Ed?) both tried yelling to get his attention but he was too far away to hear us. Thank god he was easy on the throttle, she likes to get up and go in a hurry and that could have been bad for all of us, but he did a great job. Nice little Jr captian you've got there :)

Thanks guys, I love my boat and she is really fun to drive but I'm definately thinking about an upgrade in the next 12 to 24 months. That outback V and the LSV's are sweet little boats.

The 180 spin out, lol. It looks worse than it is. When I was growing up at home my parents owned a ski rental business and they had boomerangs in the past. After hours (almost daily) they would take it out and practice seeing who could get the most degrees of rotation out of it. From a distance it looks like the thing is going to flip, I've seen hundreds of spin outs in that model without any issue. Not something I do all the time, but it's fun from time to time.

Zero need for an apology, it was a simple misunderstanding. No one had any bad intentions.

At the risk of stating the obvious, I think this is good time to remind everyone to please take the keys out of the ignition and hide them if there are kids around and there is not going to be an adult in the boat. I am glad that nothing bad happened but the potential was there.

Anyway, looks like you all had a great time. Hope we can do one in the NW this summer and more than 3 boats will show up :)
