Looking for a good lake between Ocala and Lake City. Newnans? Orange Lake? Any ideas? Close to the freeway would be nice too. Thanks.

I'd like to know about one near there too for day trip meetups with my central FL friends.

Not sure about both of those lakes but a little south is lake Weir. Never been there myself but some friends really enjoy it.

i called transition watersports and they suggested Santa Fe Lake in Melrose. a bit of a haul, but that was all he could think of. said orange lake is mostly marsh.

Ed-I was just in that dearship sat afternoon picking up a impeller. They also had a red/black 2010 LSV sitting on the showroom-good thing it was not blue/black or the wife would be pissed with me right about now.

Luke-I have been on Lake Harris in Leesburg-nice big lake thats connected to about 4 other lakes includeing Lake Griffin that Ed spoke of. Its further south of where you are talking about but the ramp is only about 20 minutes from the freeway. The Clermont chain of lakes is a little further south still and takes me about 35-40 minutes to get to from I-75.

FYI-A Florida MiniJam is in the works for later this spring, just locking in the date and will announce soon.

Or get some skeeter netting and sleep in the boat.
