Nate-

I'm sure it's going to come up...

-That's a solidworks assembly drawing.
-The shape is notched so it will load properly into the helm and around the seat hump.
- The heater port is not shown.
- enclosure is 100% composit material.
- volume is ~3.5cu
- port tuned to 40hz. 3" vent.
- this enclosure is similar to the on posted up in the Malibu forum but sized differently.

Nate sorry for the huge file.

Brian

Thanks for adding the extra info about the enclosure. I pretty much figure that the majority of enclosures are going to be similar in design. There is only so many ways to build one properly.

No worries about the huge file, it was well worth it. And fits in well with the motto on the boat "go big or you buy the beer"

Hey Nate i was down at the Exile shop yesterday and saw your boat there. They were working on cardboard templates it looked like.

Id like to have a listen when its done, curious how much more a difference it is with a 15 and a 2500.1 then my 12 and its 2500.1. My 12 has the same coil windings and magnet as the big 15 just my woofer size is a 12. Brian and me spoke and he thinks i can handle the 2500 so were going to drop it in and crank it up lol.

I dont see why it wont hold it handled 3600 in testing last year.

Hey Mike - When I talked to Brian yesterday he said that Bret had the balsa wood test enclosure in the boat. Suppose to get some pics of it sent to me today. So can't wait to get this done. Stereo will finally be almost done, just need the Xm9's, a second alpine remote and to finish installing the alpine remote on the dash. Only problem with getting the sub done is now I am more antsy about getting back out on the water. Soon soon...

I knew you should have gone with the 2500 to begin with. But I would imagine to the untrained ear that we will not hear to much of a difference between your 12 and my 15. I am sure that Brian will be able to tell the difference. We will have to get mine, yours and Al's boats together this summer and see who's is the loudest. :)

Well i know for a fact the 15 does sound different, even when you had your kicker 15 cranked up i could hear a lower sound, more so that it carries farther, now in the boat not sure if i will tell a difference.

Yea i imagine the cardboard stuff i saw was the fine tunning to it before they didnt eh blasa wood cutouts for the final fit before they cut the material.

I also talked to those guys and they are making a custon 12 enclosure for the F350 crew cab like mine and they are gonna let me see it when its done because i have been wanting to upgrade mine. Right now its a standard behind the rear seat box with a shallow Rockford Forsgate sub.

The 2500 makes a difference. It's not required, but it does give more full force impact. Even on that Big12. As good as Mikes boat sounds, the BIG15 will walk on the BIG12 because of the cone area associated with it. It just has more output.

there are a lot of big system upgrades taking place over the winter. I think yesterday alone we shipped 5 BIG15's out. These are not cheap Subwoofers guys.

It would be real fun to listen to them side by side. All these boats will sound a bit different. Yes, even Nubu's too.

Mike - Kinda funny but at the techntune I thought your 12 had a better overall sound them my 15. Back in November when Brian let me borrow at 2500.1 to figure out what was wrong with my stereo I learned how much a bigger amp can chance how a sub sounds. I never heard the kicker 15 sound so good.

That custom box for your truck sounds great. I need to look into upgrading to an aftermarket sub in my truck too. That factory one sucks, but I am very limited on space. Only area to out one is under the rear seats.

Geez Brian you guys are busy this winter.
And we can invite NuBu to the testing. He can just play on the river where the Tige likes to play ;)

Brian - yeah we were freaking out. Thinking the entire time "oh he sees us, he will turn" then "oh sh*t he is going to hit us". I'm just amazed he lived afterwards. Do not know how we all stayed so calm.

Mike true you didn't but now since I have the Exile setup I gotta tell ya Welcome to Second Place. :D

Al - It just sounded like a good excuse for all of us to meet up on the water one day.

What would be cool is to have all three of your boats lined up and see if Al's kid can surf the first bowl, and then jump over to the third boat surf wake. THAT I'd like to see....

-Brian

ps: Ed - step up to solidworks 2011 it is amazing over past versions.

Me and Al tried that last summer but his boat wasn't weighted like it needed but I'm sure we can get Brian out with us and me and Al can set up our boats and get that done.

Mike, I don't think I had any of my ballast full at that point. That was a spur of the moment thing, and we weren't nearly close enough. We'll have to try that for real this summer - I'm sure Keenan will be able to stay on it as long as we can stay in formation. And I'd like to give it a go as well.

Outback V is down in Florida land.... So, ya, it's a bit of a drive for him.

The install job he's been working on is pretty damn first class. He's a big league 20 year experience installer. We'll have to figure out you fabrication pics... These guys would definitely enjoy.

I am impressed with the quality of work and attention to detail that Brett has when he is creating these enclosures. Top notch work.

This thing hits hard, it can set off car alarms.

Looks like you have had a couple big sub setups in and out of there. Gotta be at the top now. That thing is HUGE!!! I'm blown away by the size.

off topic .. I saw the integrated bow sac in your in your tag. is that in the side bow cushions? Did you buy it or make it? I would love something like that but haven't seen it before with the playpen .. back on topic. That thing is MASSIVE and prob works as ballast itself!!

Looks great Nate cant wait to hear it and feel it. Holler if you guys need a extra after this weekend. Looks like the weather might get nice sooner this year. Been a lot of sunshine lately.

Yea the integrated bow sac is the one that goes under the side cushions of the bow. It is the standard one from fly high that wakemakers sales. I have not installed it yet, but with talking to the guys at wakemakers it will fit just fine and should fill close to full capacity which is 650 lbs.

I have has a couple of big sub setups, but none have sounded as good as this one.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate one of these weekends. Sunny during the week the rain on weekends, that needs to change real fast.

And a FYI at AWS Matt Radich is the interim service manager again. Thought you would like to know just in case you wanted to check on your swim platform.

The next service manager will be the 5 since I got my boat. Brian apparently was great at being organized but not so good at knowing the boat industry. Guess he didn't pick up on things fast enough to keep him around. Matt hopes to have a replacement by April 1. But definitely talk to Matt that way both of you know what's going on. He is good at keeping customers in the loop.
