Autoswitch for light during winter

Just thought I would post this for others that may be interested. I bought a plug that goes between the receptacle and your appliance that will allow power to your appliance once it gets to a certain temperature and shut off when the temp goes back up. My boat is under a shelter so I put a drop light in there since we are reaching freezing temps here in Florida. Here is a link to the device on Lowes.com. This one shows cut in at 38 and cut out at 50 but there were 2 models in the store. The one I purchased cuts in at 35 and out and 44.

That is a great idea but it is an electrical device which means it could fail...just saying. I guess the bulb could fail to so I guess it's a mute point

I have been using a drop light for years but have always had to go plug it in during cold weather so this is a good idea. I also ONLY use Rough Service light bulbs (auto parts stores) as I have had trouble with normal light bulbs blowing out while I was hanging the light under the engine.
On a DD you can check the status of the light by looking under the boat at night and seeing the light shinning through the hull drain hole. Not sure if this would work on a VD.

With 23 degree nights coming up I was thinking about what I would do if the power went out. I'd probably just run the engine. Have to put a new impeller in in the spring anyway. Well worth it if it got shredded. Build up a little heat and pull it back inside. It would be good for 12 hours.
