Faux Teak SeaDeck

I installed the new pad today. The overall process was pretty easy. Make sure that your old pad has set in the sun for a while and it will come up with fair effort. I followed the instruction from the Seadeck website. I used GooGone instead of mineral spirits because I had that already. It worked probably the same.

Once the platform was clean, I used acetone to remove anything left on it and let it sit to dry. We have cool temps with no humidity, so it dried quickly.
I laid out the pad and marked them with a pencil. I did the outside two pads first. That allowed me to measure the remaining space and make equal lines between the outer and inside pads. I pulled the paper on the outside edge, set it in place with my lines and worked across. Fairly simple and straight forward.

So, either you like it or you don't. The faux teak is very soft and reminds me of cork. I did not order, nor did I expect, the Moomba on the center pad. At first, I did not like it, but it does make it seem "stock".

by the way - do you have a galvanized trailer?

Yes, I have a galvanized trailer. My dealer is in Mobile, AL and most of the water here is salt. They order and suggest that we all order galvanized due to how close we are to the ocean breeze. It is just cheap insurance against rust, plus I don't worry when I do run in brackish or salt water.
Funny thing is, the trailer came with chrome steel wheels?

I really didn't think I'd like it but I kind of do. Agree the Moomba logo is overkill and kind of takes away from the teak look but it's not too big and doesn't hurt too bad.

I like it, however would make 2 changes. lose the moomba logo and make it a single piece. the color looks real good against your ride.. much improved over stock and bet it's much nicer to use now :)

I asked for a one piece and they don't make it in the faux teak, I don't know why. I think it would have looked better or more "real" without the logo and as 1 piece.

It's different and it seems to function well.

I don't either considering they did the entire floor and such for the Nautique Billabong boat with faux teak. While the colors in this pic are off you get the point.

To me, just plain teak looks too bland and boring

a good, well oiled teak deck looks like the bomb on the right color of boat. on my orange, it would look like a$$, but on a solid white, black or blue.....

I love the way our teak looks on our blue boat! As far as looking bland well if it was just teak plywood it would look bland to me, but with the different patterns and boards it looks great, you know like old oak furnature each deck is unique.

Good day skiing until I fell hard crossing for the 4 buoy and ruptured my eardrum. It rung my bell pretty good and caused a lot of drizziness after impact. Within 4-5 minutes, I was better with the "water in the ear" clog. I did a valsalva (hold your nose and blow to clear your ears) and air was rushing out of my ear. About 40 minutes later, pain set in. By 4 hours later, I went to the ER. While waiting, my ear started draining liquid mixed with blood and the pain went way down. I got some drops for the ear and it should heal itself in a couple of weeks.
Probably no more skiing this year and probably won't fly for a week or so.

Be careful out there.

Maxpower! Oooch!!! When Zachary ruptured his ear drum slap boxing with friends the emergency room doctor said it would heal in a few weeks. Well we went to an ENT specialist anyway and found out not only did it rupture but it blew a section of the eardrum back. He had to have surgery and a skin graft. Please go to an ENT doctor to get this checked out!!! He was told no watersports for 6 months but luckily young ones heal fast and he was only out for a month. But even then I had to promise the doctor he would only ski and kneeboard with a helmet that had the ear flaps on it. He didn't like it but he wore it.

I've started wearing my helmet (with ear flaps) for wakeboarding and skiing. In my opinion it's not a freaking fashion show anyway. I actually took a hard fall wakeboarding on Saturday and it would of hurt a lot more if I wasn't wearing the brain bucket.

Any of you guys know if they make the teak pad for a Supra? I can see almost every other make BUT Supra!!!

I contacted Seadek directly, just to give you guys an update. They said that right now they don't make a pre cut faux teak for the Supra but could make one easily if dimensions were provided. If I ordered the sheets of it, how many you think it would take to do the interior and swim platform??

If you go to the Seadeck website, there is a video that show you exactly how to make a template to send to them. They will make it for you with the template that you supply. It is difficult for anyone who does not have your boat to guess at how many pieces it will take. Also, you can determine the number of pieces that you want.
