Labor Day Help 98 Boomerang Smoking at Starter

Was out today and boat ran fine. but would not start again, checked battery battery ok, cleaned terminals etc. checked connections but + wire was really hot (melting red plastic cover over connections).

Sounds like its time for new cables. The cables will corrode inside where you cant see them from the insulation. Once they corrode it takes a ton more power to make a connection and this creates a lot of heat.
