Hi. We have the Gravity I ballast bag in the back of our 2007 Outback.

I noticed that it kept filling with water. First, I made sure the little valve by the pump was set properly and it was. So, I closed the bigger shut-off valve which sits in front of the engine and looks to me to be right where the water comes in.

Now water still slowly enters the ballast but, but much slower than before.

Anyone know why this is? Did I turn off the wrong valve? Is there an easy way to remove the ballast bag and put stoppers on the hoses?

Thanks.

If your main valve (brass) is shut off before the pump it should not be filling at all.

I have the same problem when that valve is open and it's due to the sprinkler valves. They are terrible. See recent post TODAY:

A good solution is to replace that sprinkler valve (which i'm about to do) and another option is to install another shutoff as i have done in my mod where I put to on/off valves to control filling of 2 bags. You could just splice something like these into your fill line. See my thread:

That looks like a good solution, but maybe a bit complicated for me.

Is there an easy way to simply plug the tubes and remove the ballast bag?

Thanks.

Just go to home depot and buy a 3/4 inch barbed plug and hose clamp it on..........You're done!!!
